Making the interior buttons respond quicker?

Recommended Posts

I've talked to other guys before about the buttons on the interior responding soooo slow. For example when you are changing the song from your phone on the steering wheel on the left back buttons or changing the radio station. Is there anyway to have it programmed or changed so that it responds when you actually press the button? Probably isn't but it's worth to throw it out there

I find the same issue when I have my iPhone plugged in trying to play songs directly off of that. Try installing an SD card in the centre console with your music on it. I found the response much faster with the steering wheel buttons (pretty much instant). Have not tried a USB stick however.

Not just slow to respond to button presses but slow to boot up sometimes and slow to load the various "apps"/screens. I really don't understand how a head unit 10x as big as my phone has .1% the processor power. There are times I have the truck started and in reverse before the screen even lights up.

Again I don't remember having those problems with my '14. Also screen size doesn't determine the speed or anything, it's just the screen size. If the screen size mattered then my Samsung smart TV should be the fastest thing I've ever owned, but it's not. They have become mini computers and I guess making so many trucks they don't really want to spend the money for the fastest components, especially since the cost will just go to the buyer and people already complain about the cost of them. It's ironic though that it seems like the main ones complaining are the ones buying the more expensive trims like LTZ/SLT and above. If you really think it's too expensive nobody is making you buy the truck, but then the want of having all of the luxuries take over. I myself don't need luxuries in a truck or anything, I can't even stand leather seats. But then I also don't want the base, so as with a lot of things I buy I'm a mid level buyer I guess. Don't want the cheapest and also don't need the most expensive.

I have had a '14 and on my second '15, it is ridiculously slow. I press the steering wheel button and it takes 3 seconds to respond. As said above I have it in reverse and moving and the screen isn't booted up. The worst is the phne which is ridiculously slow. I was hoping someone would say their was an update to increase the speed.

Also as said above it's slow at first when switching stations or whatever because it's almost in a sleep or idle mode so you click it once to "wake it up" and then click it again. I'm not sure how long without pushing the button before it foes to that sleep mode, but I got used to double tapping it if it had been 5 minutes or so since I last clicked it.

Wow...it takes like 3 seconds? That's just ridiculous. Sometimes I am amazed what people complain about on here.

That's why I said in my first comment about being first world problems. The fact that I went from a '14 to an '83 makes me think even more that anyone with a K2 should be very happy they have what they have unless of course it's a vibrator or giving other major problems. Hell I remember my first truck/vehicle ('86 C10 Custom Deluxe) didn't even come with factory A/C and I had to keep using cheap boomboxes to listen to music because a previous owner literally cut out the factory head unit and I didn't want to try to put a unit back in the dash. It's like "boo hoo my heated seats take too long to heat up" or "the backup camera isn't HD" and other BS. I'm not even that old either even though sometimes my opinions make me sound 45+ lol..

Mine are perfect fast. Only thing slow is when I'm on Bluetooth and running pandora. And that has to do with phone service. It's fast and perfect or stops for a minute or two and picks up where it stopped. Touch screen and steering wheel controls are spot on.

It isn't that is a BIG problem in the world today, it is an inconvenience that is kinda unacceptable at the price point of this vehicle in the year 2017. I am a GM guy and the price point WAS usually along the lines of the quality with GM over the years. Always said my Zo6 was the best bang for the buck. I accepted the lousy cheap interior because of what it was for how much. But GM is now gettting 70K plus plus plus for trucks. Sorry too much for the quality. My 2008 S550 instantly hooks up the phone, and the controls are lightning fast. That is 2008 technology! Yeah I know it's not a Mercedes, but it is 2017 and they are very expensive and it would have cost GM 20 dollars per truck to have the expected quality and technology for such an annoying issue. This is my 3rd truck in this platform and can say they are overpriced for what they are with alot of problems. Problem is I am a GM guy so I will complain about what I spent for what and hope GM is reading figuring how to get more market share. It is ridiculously slow in this day and age for a 75K truck.
