No reverse

Recommended Posts

Sorry for my first post being a question. I have a new 2017 GMC 4x4 6.2 8 speed. Used remote start walked out of my office put it in reverse and nothing. It was just like being in neutral. After a few attempts it slowly started to move it then caught up and ran fine? Dealer said they have never seen this, any of you guys ever heard of this?

Not too many like that. Since I work on transmissions. I'd give it another go before taking it in. Only saying this because sometimes small pieces of debris make their way into the valve body. Especially on newer vehicles. Nothing to be worried too much about, it'll get caught in the filter, that's what's it's for. Now, if it does it again. Take it in.

They could not duplicate the issue, engineer said if it happens again to put it in 4x4 and see is it changes anything and report back. 8 days in the shop to tell me they are not going to do anything!

Unfortunately that's common place now at the dealers and I hate it. But if it's not doing it, how do you propose they attempt a fix?

The only reason they kept it as long as they did was because I took a video of the problem. They claim they did not do anything to it while they had it but it is definitely shifting better than it was.
