Silence horn

Recommended Posts

Hey guys quick question here, does anyone know if there's a way to disable the horn when locking the vehicle twice with the keyfob? I love the remote start but I don't like that it honks. My brother-in-law's '17 Sierra doesn't do it. Thanks

Should be in the settings section on your touch screen.

I'd like to take the opportunity and thank you for considering to disable the horn when locking the truck.

It's the most annoying feature on a car, ever.

It must be that the higher-up management people from the manufacturers live far enough from their next neighbor.

They can't hear the neighbor's car honking twice when he's "double locking" it.

Maybe even three times, for good measure.

I appreciate you j-ten but have you not ever walked away from your truck and, right before walking in to Target, wonder if you've locked it? HONK. Yep, I did.

It's the first thing I disable and have no worries about vehicle being locked when I walk away from. It's called habit. I always use the interior door lock switch on the way out.

lol Of course it has happened to me. Not only once.

Now, I lock the truck when I'm still standing right beside it and see the knobs going down and/or the lights flashing. And I'm sure that my neighbors appreciate that I disabled the horn.

The funny thing is that some people are standing right beside their car and pressing the lock button 3-4-5 times. Or walk away 100', turn around and then press the button multiple times. As if they couldn't hear the horn the first time.

What's the point of that? :dunno:

^^ I have horrible memory and I'm paranoid, I trust very few people. Plus the horn is nice when I can't see my truck and want to auto start it.

As far as hitting the lock switch on the door as far as I know that doesn't enable the alarm? Even though the alarm is probably easily disable I still want the random thief that gets my door open to be deafened by my horns going off.

As far as on topic yeah the manual will tell you how to disable the horns when locking.

Usually I'm still sitting in the living room and finish my morning coffee when I remote start my truck.

Why do you have to see your truck to start it?

As for locking the (my) truck.

One push on the lock button will lock the doors and enable the alarm with a delay of 30 sec.

The second push on the button will enable the alarm instantly and (would) honk the horn.

I actually use the OnStar app more than my key fob for remote start. Yes it takes a few more "clicks" but it can be done from any range and you get confirmation that the truck started.

ADDED IN EDIT:

Sorry I just saw in your sig that you have a 2009. No app for you :tear:

Plus I'm too cheap for onstar. I never renewed it after however long dad had it paid through when I took over the truck when he passed.
