I have done some searching, but couldn't find anything recent. I am looking to add a light bar, and I would like to put a switch in the cubby hole where the trailer brake control would go. (Seems like the easiest option). Any suggestions for which switch to get? Or alternative solution for minimal 'work' with keeping a factory appearance?

Any wording advise would be appreciated too. (Are there any bland fuses I can tap into or just run the wire to the battery?

couple people have put a round led switch in one of the existing cigarette lighter openings.

I have seen that and it looks cool and clean, but I fear I would have to take the entire dash apart for that? Seems very labor intensive...maybe I'm over thinking it?

If you have the homelink buttons you can use one of those.

Then no wires to run into the cab.

I do have that, how would I go about doing this? I have two open spots, (I only have one garage door). I assume some sort of remote module? Are they reliable?

This is what I did, think it cost me about $80 for the 4 wires to add to my harness and the replacement switch module. There is a good thread on how some guys did this. I powered the lightbar off the battery, the switch is a ground switch so only one wire needs to be ran into the cab, I suggest if you go this route run four wires into the cab so if you plan to add more in the future the wiring is already ran. The thread is a bit confusing and I had to read through it a few times, so if you have any questions let me know and I'll see if I can't explain how I did it better.

Thanks! I saw that thread and I think that looks great...however for my truck, all of the switches are already being used by factory options.

Well crap, this is what I did earlier on to keep from cutting, I just didn't want to cut into my new truck so I got a little creative with mouting options.1e98606025e905ec84629715c051cfdc.jpg9d453a51962bac874c101f73d2d31684.jpg

That's a good idea too... and I'm with you! I don't want to cut into my truck either...I am looking into the remote option to see if I can hook it up to my homelink...

You can, I have done the wireless remote, I just wanted a switch so I can see that it's either on or off, I also plan to add more things and use two of the garage door switches already so had to figure something else out.

Something like that was my first thought! Just a simple clean tucked away switch...are those mounted or do they have a sticky back or what? Also, did that switch/harness come with your lights or did you buy it seperate? Would you mind sharing the link?

you'll have to drill holes for those switches. i doubt they come with the light bar. you'll basically need the light, a relay, and a switch.
