MyLink and iPhone issues

Just got the truck, so maybe I just haven't found the right setting...

Problem:

Plug phone in via USB jack.

Set "Radio" to SXM

ANY sound produced by the phone (email alert, WAZE notification, etc.) comes through the car's speakers (fine so far). However, the sound "source" automatically switches to the phone and not back to SXM.

Just had a long drive home. Every few minutes, I had to re-select the XM station I was listening to. Pretty annoying.

None of my other trucks or cars have had an issue like this. The sound played over the car speaker and the original audio source kept playing. How do I get the system to automatically switch back to the previous audio source?

Sounds like a phone setting

I wouldn't be surprised if it is... for the life of me, can't find any setting that would fix this.

I thought by having "CarPlay" in the vehicle it "would just work." This same phone does not have this issue in any other car I have connected it to - between personal cars, rentals and service loaners, that's quite a few.

This is my first vehicle with "CarPlay," so I suspect it is related to that. Unless this behavior is a Chevy thing. I read about a similar issue with MyLink a few years back (older version of MyLink and older version of iOS), but that was apparently fixed in an update.

I have this same issue with my truck too. I just switched to a cigarette lighter charger to avoid the issue, but would love if there was a better solution.

I was also hoping for a better solution. Not using the USB cable means you cannot use CarPlay when you do want/need it. I don't want to fumble to switch cables while I am driving as that defeats the purpose of a hands-free setup. Even if there is some buried setting to correct this issue, someone dropped the ball big time on this "feature."

EDIT: Strange, but the problem seems to have mostly resolved itself. iPhone "system" sounds will now play over the car speaker without switching source from SXM. I didn't do anything that I know of, but it's working, so I can't complain.

Waze (3rd party app) continues to be an issue. Any sound from Waze plays over the speaker and switches the car system audio input to "iPod." As a workaround to this issue, I simply set Waze audio to use the phone speaker. This allows the app to make its sounds without affecting the car audio source.

I think the my link system gets a little buggy from time to time. I have had something like that happen and had to turn off the stereo or change the source. I can't remember but I think I had to turn the truck off once because my link was locked up.
