I KNEW IT 30 MPG should not be a problem, the Grumpster has already done it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not every tank. Let's not get too excited. Best tank to date of over 500 miles is 31.3 mpg.

Last 24 tank average is 28.3 with an average deviation of 1.4 mpg so tank to tank it's loosely 27 to 30 mpg.

It has been better last 2000 miles with four tanks falling between 29 and 31 mpg.

I keep tweaking the truck and my habits.

i have been meaning to post for a few weeks now but finally got around to it.So my wife and i took a trip up to Oregon to see the Eclipse last month. Our week long trip took us from the San Francisco bay area up Praireville Oregon, then back down to Reno Nevada and from their back home to San jose ca.

So after filling up with gas before we headed out on the road.i reset my Trip B meter to log my miles and MPG.I logged 1400 plus miles on the round trip and averaged 21 mpg.The best 400 miles MPG i got was 23.3 along that same trip. Now with that said, i experienced all types of driving condition from rolling hills, mountains highways, long straights and slow windy dirt mountain gravel roads.i averaged anywhere from 10 mph (on a windy gravel road) to 80+ on the open highway with total avg. about 70mph.This was in my stock 2016 Z71 LTZ CC 5.3 8speed with 3.41 gears and loaded with camping gear.

Over all i think my truck preformed well on the trip but i did have one problem taking the truck out of 4wd High. For some reason or the other it took a little while for me to get it back into 2wd.i had to keep playing with the nob to get the damn thing in 2wd.i was not happy with that part at all.......this was the first time i had ever use 4wd.

last thing i will say is that my truck LOVED 93 octane gas that i got in Oregon compared to the 91 we get here in California.I always fill up with 91 but damn did get better milage with 93 while driving thru Oregon.anyway enough of my rant here are some pic of my trip meter after i pulled into my driveway.enjoy..........

You all must live in the flattest state with the most tale wind! 1.5 hr round trip to the air port the other day with a fresh tank, I saw 21.2 (rare site) going and by the time I came back I was in the low 19's for an average on that trip, driving the same style, nothing aggressive, cruise control. 3 hour round trip to see my daughter at college and I only saw 19.3.

Back and forth to work, I'll never see anything good.............not including exiting my drive way or the parking lot at work, I have 13 guaranteed stops and 3 potential other stops on a 16 mile round trip.

My 400 mi Average and Best have never been above mid 18's

Life is too short to be driving slow to save few cents :) I do minimum speed limit, mostly 5-10 over and get low 19s on average.

My 20" chrome wheels take away from the mpg im sure.

Agree.....always go with the flow. If it's 85, I'm right there with them, just not leading. Unless it's snowing like hell, then I'm probably leading!

I didn't buy a truck to save on gas money!

I should add a few things to my first post:

- my truck is 4wd

- I do all of the calculations by hand each time I fill up. The Dash always says I get 1-3mpg better than what I actually get.

- these calculations are for a full tank of gas, not just a few miles

- my city driving is city driving. I drove 11 miles the other day while doing errands around town over the span of 2 hours. Average city speeds are maybe 25 miles per hour

- I do about 10 miles of highway driving per day going to work. On the highway I do have a heavy foot and usually travel 80-85mph

Ive been keeping track over the last few months and the best Ive had is just a hair over 16mpg. I average about 15-15.5mpg. My last full up was yesterday and I got 15.1mpg over 260 total miles. I live just outside of Boston so I envy all these guys getting 20+mpg. Im going to look for a beater car that gets better fuel efficiency for my commute. Now just to convince my wife thats a good idea...
