Nope. We had a 2015 z71 with 5.3 sold that and bought the wife a 2016 tow max ltz 6.2. And I have my 16 rc.

They both have their purpose but I wouldn't buy a 6.2 if i didn't need it

Even then we are getting rid of that truck in the next few months

theres a massive difference in the driving mannerisms of a 5.3/6.2 , it's not even the same league

I just don't see it. Yes the 16 6.2 is faster then our 15 z71 5.3. But that's really all I can tell.

Plus I don't like the 8 speed

I like my 16 rc 100 times better then the wife's truck

ive had several 5.3s, a 6.0, LML, and the 6.2 and the 6.2 was the best of all followed by the LML very closely. I wouldn't even put the 5.3 on the scoring card. It's just a lame and boring motor when compared to the 6.2

To each their own. If I wasn't towing (we bought a duramax now) the only reason d want a 6.2 it to swap into my rc.

I agree with you it's a great motor. But in my opinion as a daily driver, it's meh

if you're towing there's just no replacement to a diesel and that's pretty much a fact, as for an exciting DD (for a stockish truck) I think the 6.2 is perfect.

Love the power of my 6.2! Drive around all day in my work van, CNG powered 6.0L Chevy Express van, which moves right along, then would have to get in my '13 Silverado with the 5.3L and be disappointed with the lack of power on the way home. Lease for the '13 Silverado was up, so got the '16 Sierra with the 6.2, somewhat for the towing but also to still feel the power when I'm not driving my C6 Corvette with a 6.0, and I love the power of it. The 8 speed? Not so much, but that's for another forum topic.

I traded my 14 double cab 5.3 for a crew cab 6.2 a couple weeks ago. Both with 342 gears. You guys make it sound like the 6.2 has twice the power of the 5.3. Yes it has more power and torque but it's not a crazy difference in such a heavy vehicle.
