Exhaust Sound for Classic Truck

I have an old 1972 Ford F100 with a 302 and right now it has some hack job exhaust with random "stock" mufflers from who-knows-what. I'm wanting to do a full header-back dual exhaust but I'm stuck trying to figure out a good muffler for it that would be appropriate for the truck. Its not a race truck or anything. I just want a good burble sound with nice rumble that won't drone on the interstate but still sounds decently powerful when under load. I do not want the rasp. A friend suggested a "turbo" style muffler. Any suggestions?

I would have posted this in one of the truck specific forums but my classic truck is a Ford so there really isn't a place for it.

I came here to suggest a turbo muffler, and I see someone already has.

I don't like most of the Flowmaster and Dynomax-types of mufflers. To raspy or metallic for me.

Turbo mufflers give you that deep, powerful rumble. Used to be called California Turbo mufflers. I think maybe Thrush might still make them.

Getting the exhaust put on today. Dual 2.5" from the header back to turbo mufflers out to rolled tips. Should sound pretty nice! I was hoping to not sound like a 5.0 Mustang. Muffler shop guy said flow masters with a crossover would make it sound like the typical mustang. I should be deeper and a bit quieter. Can't wait to hear it!

I've a couple rides with the old 302, 289, 351. Engines they aren't real loud stock. If you want a nice sounding exhaust not concerned with max HP forget the headers go with 21/4 exhaust long glass packs no cross over. My experience with old ford small blocks unlike Chevy small blocks fords needed cam changes along with 4 bbl carbs to increase power and exhaust noise.
