2015 Sierra radio out - software issue?

My 2015 Sierra display went out and says "searching for medium with valid download data" and then fails. Back up cam still works but no red/yellow/ guidelines. Took it to the dealer and they aren't completely sure the issue but want to start with software and if that doesn't work then replace a module. Truck is just out of warranty, (42k miles) Contacted GM and they seem to care less on doing the $200 software upload for me at no charge and haven't been much help at all.

 

Anyone ever had this issue and is there a software upload I can do myself?

Nothing to do yourself unfortunately. If I were you, I'd disconnect the negative battery cable for 15 mins and put it back on. See what happens.

My display went out on my 2015 Sierra. Backup camera works but doesn't show the red/yellow/green guidelines. A message stating "Searching for medium with valid download data" appears for awhile and then fails. I have read about this issue online and haven't heard of a definitive solution. Truck is out of warranty (42k miles) and I took to the GM dealer to be told they didn't know what the issue was but would start with a software update for $200.

 

I contacted GM to see if they would handle it but they seemed to care less and weren't much help at all. Which is ridiculous, especially for a software issue, at how much these trucks cost. Has anybody found a solution to this or a software update I can do without taking to the dealer? I have disconnected from the battery and pulled the RDO fuse and both didn't work.
