The General Motors plant that assembles GM's hottest crossover just went on strike. The Cami plant in Ontario went on strike last night. The Local 88 Union of Auto Workers is seeking better wages and benefits. The strike comes as GM's hot new Equinox is gaining critical market share. After being in last place among all leading automakers in the largest automotive segment, GM's new Equinox has suddenly become very competitive. Last month, the Equinox came within striking distance of passing the Honda CR-V in sales.

I hope the Ramos Arizpe and San Luis Potosi plants where they also happen to build the Equinox are ready for some overtime!

Sad that unions would rather be greedy over people's jobs and then run the risk of them losing there jobs, rather than maybe not try to negotiate ridiculous terms and keep those jobs going strong.

still trying to figure out how a $50 billion taxpayer funded bailout is helping the American worker when the assembly plant is in another country?

Because if they want to sell in another country they have to manufacture in that country.

Yeah it's sad when Unions fight for their membership. It's utter blasphemy. If they have gone to a strike position it's because negotiations have broken down, despite what people think Unions don't just go straight to strike. We don't want to be out of work and unpaid, but sometimes a point has to be made.

In Canada minimum wage is going up to $15/hr, and the Cami workers aren't paid much more.

Well their dollar is worth shit compared to american dollar . On top of that everything cost a arm and leg it seems their . Oh but they do have government health care for everyone tho.

And the USD is worth shit compared to the EURO, just saying.

What's wrong about affordable health care for everyone?

I don't know much about unions.

But I think that it's a good thing to have someone who's looking after the interest of the workers.

so long
