Standard Bed Crew Cab Hard To Find?

Recommended Posts

I have been looking for a four door crew cab with the standard or "longer" bed that is common on extended cab models. I notice this is a very tough combination to find on dealer lots.

Is this basically build to order combination? I am surprised that it is not a popular vehicle.

Really thinking about replacing my one owner 99 Sierra with either the GMC or Chevy model.

they are out there. My dealer had probably 50 1500s on the lot and they had one that was crew/standard. That's what I was looking for but it just didn't have what I wanted on it and I was in need of a vehicle. If you're willing to look around or have the dealer find one for you, they're out there.

Feel like I'm saying this in every thread lol

Years ago, I had 1500 with the extended cab and the 6.5 bed. Then I got a 2500 with the crew cab and 6.5 bed. Next purchase I will be back with the extended cab. For me, I did not use the back see enough to offset the decrease in maneuverability. Parking lots became a challenge. I'll admit, I live in a congested area.

I seriously considered crew, but I wanted the standard bed. And yes, the local dealers didn't have many/any CC with the standard bed. I ended up with a DC standard bed which is fine for me since I'm alone in the truck 99.9% of the time. I have had people in the back of the DC without issue. DC back seat is OK for average size folks for short distances.

Have your dealer do a search. The combination you are looking for may be more common in other regions. My previous truck was a cc with the short bed and I now have a cc standard bed (6.5'). Any disadvantages of having a little longer truck are far outweighed with the extra cargo space, imo.

There is a GMC sitting on the lot in Marquette MI. Don't know how far that is from you but Marquette International AP is only 10 miles distant.

Sierra SLT CC standard box, 4wd, 6.2L, max trailering, dark slate gray.

Ps - No vested interest in this vehicle. Ask for Phil, a good guy who sold me several vehicles.

They have a tendency to not fit into most garages. So i know the dealers tend to order them with the short box.

It surprises me that garages are built so short. The extended cabs with the 8' box were very popular in the 70's, 80's and 90's and were even a little longer than a cc with a standard bed.

CC and standard bed was the only option that I was even considering. A short box is simply not an option for me. Luckily the dealer found it right there on their lot! Very hard to come across compared to the other options though
