Wheel quality

Thinking about aftermarket wheels. Wondering about quality living in the northeast. Don't want the finish coming off right away or corrosion setting in to quickly. Some might say just run them in the summer however I'm not switching every season so that's not an option. Choosing the right quality is probably the only option if I want custom wheels. Thinking about 35x12.5 on a 20x9 not sure what offset to use but I would like to stay mostly flush with the fenders maybe +18 ? Not sure. Any advice?

The best way to prevent corrosion is to plastidip your wheels. Peel it off in spring. My father in law turned me onto it a few years ago with the chrome wheels on his car. Drive them all winter long. No pitting.

make sure they are clear coated and keep them sealed/waxed

Swap them out, simple as that.

 

Back when everyone ran polished aluminum wheels we just polished them each spring but no one runs polished wheels anymore.

The good old days right. I don't mind some aluminum showing but I have the midnight so I want some black as well.

Honestly, the only quality wheels anymore imo are billets.

Yes, they will very lightly rub at full lock on the frame, zero worries.

Mud flaps are fine, I would not worry about the rubbing, you spend no time at all at full wheel lock and it simply lightly rubs, it doesn't grab and hurt anything.

 

Some guys are running 35x11.5 to avoid any contact.

It’s not that they are stock or otherwise. It’s the offset. However you choose to change the offset it is the key to not have rubbing issues. Too high of an offset the more likely to rub on the control arms and to low (negative numbers) the greater the likelihood of rubbing on the genders. Typically the best offsets for neutral tire placement where you don’t run inside or outside is as around +15 to +18. The width of the tire plays into this as well.

Saw a wheel and tire package I am interested in but the sellers who say they are experts in fitting tire and wheels told me 18x9 with +20 offset with 35x12.5 will rub with 3 inches of leveling. Do you guys agree with that advice.
