Lower Valance/Air Dam

Recommended Posts

Anyone removed the air dam/lower valance on an Escalade?? We got rid of our suburban so the caddy will be the new hunting rig!! I don't want to damage the valance or the front bumper like we did on the suburban.

What the air dam primarily does is redirect oncoming air into the grill and push the remaining high pressure air to the ground / sides of the moving vehicle.

It also creates a venture effect for the engine bay to get rid of heat. When people remove the valences / air dams it increases heat in the radiator and engine bay.

If damaging valences / air dams is a problem, they have devices now that warn upon contact with a valance. Here is a few sources.

Thank you for the reply, for all the great information, and for the product links. The only problem is that I know I will be hitting things with the valance as the escalade with be going through corn fields, down minimum maintenance roads, and some basic off-roading to get to hunting spots so I do want to remove it in order to protect the bumper and the valance.
