Chevy's first truck was a 1918 model year vehicle and Chevy is planning 100 days of celebration to recognize this amazing milestone. The activities will start at the State Fair of Texas this week. Chevy's plans break down into four major programs, products, and events:

- A new 2018 Silverado and Colorado Centennial Special Editions
- National rollout of the Chevy Truck Legends program
- Branded merchandise featuring Chevy heritage bowtie
- Chevy Trucks Centennial Celebration on Dec. 16, 2017

Over the coming week, GM-Trucks.com will feature highlights of each of these Chevy topics starting with the new bowtie design shown above on the new truck special editions.

Nice! Well into it's production Run it still yet lacking "tech" features that FERD has the truck with 5.3L or 6.2L even 4.3L is undeniably a more solid choice than FERD'S! GO get you all a 2.7TT or the new 3.0N/A heck FERD has 6qty count em engine choices for trucks? Sounds like indecisiveness to me for a F-150 F-250?

You can talk all you want.....I bought a 5.3L for 1qty reason only! Reliability.....

let's hope that bowtie doesn't come apart and break as quickly as the bowties on the 2007-2013 models.

yup, I believe almost every 900 ended up like that and the tailgate handle plus the creaking noises and cracked dash....oh, the stupid cheap seats

BUT NOW FOR MY ALL TIME FAVORITE THING I HATED ABOUT THE 900's..........the stupid F'N glare on the instrument cluster? For people who really drove those trucks all the time...Yeah, you know what I am talking about!@ The 900's rubbed me raw in many, many ways! The K2's own em!

Bowtie looks really cool, if they offer them at the parts counter I may be interested... would be neat to see it in different colors, too (gold, black, etc.).

Shame about the 2016+ redesign, though. Not a bad looking truck, but 2014-2015 Silverado 1500s looked so much nicer. At least the 2500+ models haven't changed.

Another genious GM marketing move, add another special addition that costs you nothing to produce, yet commands a $5k premium. How about building a real special edition? Like a mid travel Silverado or LT4 powered street truck? This is what we want, not red sticker packs or camo sticker packs or 1981 roll bars and bumpers. #stickersdontmaketrucksspecial

I like the new bowtie. I too would like to see it in different colors, but I hope they don't jack the price too much just because it's a special edition. The ones that come on the new trucks already cost around $100 each, at least at my dealer. When I heard their price, I 100% lost interest in buying a black set for my truck. But for these I'd consider paying the money...

The bowties are available for order. They are on backorder now though. We received 2 of the rears and have 2 fronts that should arrive today. Be aware that inside, they look black. They are actually a very dark blue. You can see the blue in direct sunlight. I used the flash on my phone in the first pic. Normal lighting in the 2nd.
