Console charger tray upgrade

The stock charcoal finish Sierra SLT phone charger tray/surround always bothered me. One day, I saw a Yukon Denali at the local dealer. The console charger tray in them is a brushed metal finish-much more upscale in appearance than the one in my SLT, and even the Sierra Denali. I ordered 23208761 $77.37 list, $57.47 wholesale. It took two weeks to come in, as it was a special order part. Also, I was required to submit a VIN, so I gave them the VIN from the Yukon Denali on their lot. 1GKS2CKJXHR393060.

 

Installation was easy. First, with a panel removal tool, pry plastic cover off the underside of the console lid. It is on there tight, so be patient, and pry slowly. Once removed, the cell phone charger must be removed. 4 T20 Torx screws holds it to the console lid. Once the charger is out of the way, the tray/bezel is attached to the lid with 7 more T20 Torx screws. Simply remove them, and the tray comes off with the rubber mat. Simply swap the parts, and assemble in the reverse order. Make sure the charger power cable is properly tucked into the lid hinge arm prior to snapping the plastic trim part back on the lid.

Man I gotta stop reading your posts! Last time it cost me nearly 30 bucks for a chrome console handle that I had no idea existed but wanted as soon as I saw it and now it may end up costing me another 60 for the same reason! Quick question, does the color match the steering wheel and dash trim color?

The color is listed on the box as Burnish. In the parts lookup it is listed simply as silver. There are only two tray finish choices available from GM, which is either the charcoal which the lower level Yukons, and all of the trucks had, or the silver. The dash/steering wheel trim in my SLT is a bit lighter, since I believe it is axiom colored. Denali's came with the slightly darker Burnish aluminum trim. The match is close, but not absolutely perfect. Here is a comparasion:

Note that the steering wheel trim is lighter than the dash trim. The steering wheel from the Yukon matches my SLT.

Thanks for taking the time to do that comparison. I believe the Sierra Axiom is the same as the Silverado Synthesis I have so I think the color will be close enough.

While you were in there, did you happen to notice if the latch could be swapped out? Mine is partially broken and doesn't always open the lid.

Looks like it is just held in by a plastic pin..

Thanks for the offer. I like the chrome. My parts guy told me I had to order the whole lid. Glad I don't have to.

Finally got the console handle repaired and swapped out the console tray.


Here it is next to other "burnish" trim.


And here next to my OE Yukon SLT "axiom" trim.
