Oversized Tires On Stock 2017 GM Wheels Pics

I'm looking at putting 295 60 R20 on a 2017 Black S ops DC 4x4. Was going to lift front but the more I read might

keep it stock as I do a lot of hwy driving.

 

1. Will they fit on stock wheel without lift?

2. Will this kill ride & MPG's

 

Stock size on this truck is 275 55 R20. Upgrade would be 1in wilder and go from 6in sidewall to 7in.

Like the look of Nitto G2 but may go with the Toyo!

I have the same size tire as you and my first tire change I want to go to the Michelin defender 295/65R20. Ive collected the numbers below for various sizes. The Michies carry a lot more load and can handle high pressures for hauling or towing. Not as sexy as some gnarly mudders but you can get 75,000 safe highway hauling miles out of them. divide the revs per mile to get the percentage of gearing change. 10.6% for the 295/65R20 is like changing the 3.42 axle to 3.08. For fitment take the diameter and divide by 2 that will give you the radius or distance from center axle out to the tread.

Thanks for info. Should say I have a 1 ton for towing/hauling needs. The 1500 is a driver and looking for a little sporty look.

BTW Michelin rib is the best trailer tire made.

Larger and more aggressive tires will effect your mpg's a lot more than leveling out the truck!!! Most guys that put bigger tires usually don't put street tires on but AT tires and most of them are LT tires so you will end up with a tire that nearly twice as heavy as your OEM's and a more aggressive tread pattern. You will loose 2-3 mpg no matter what others will try to tell you. If you going to take that kind of hit you might as well level out the truck or at least take the air dam off.

So why compound it then? Every little bit helps. The air dam is 1 mpg on the highway, if he does a 2 or 2.5 level that is probably another mpg as that is a ton of stuff now in the air that wasn't before like the control arms.

 

Leave it stock height, leave on the air dam and go to a P-rated upsize AT tire, he won't lose anywhere near 3 mpgs doing that, he would be lucky to use 1. Now yeah, going E rated LT tire 2 inches taller he certainly could lose a couple but for what he is looking at that is an overstatement on his losses...

Need at least a 2-2.5 inch front level to fit a 295/60/20 without major rub on fender liners.

I like the look of the black painted rims and all black sidewall of the tires on the truck! Very clean and sharp looking truck. Looking to do something similar to mine maybe at some point in the future, gonna run the tires it came with until I need to replace them, then maybe will change them out for a similar looking wheel and tire set.

275/55/20 is a respectable tire size if you plan to keep stock height.  You can go +1 size without problems and not sacrifice significant fuel economy.

Just put Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 275/60 R20 on my  Black ops DC 4x4. No lift 100% stock with no rubbing and great ride.

Now it looks like a 4x4 with the street tires removed!

I went with Cooper stock size. Had a graphics shop do the stripes. 2017 5.3 3.42. Very happy so far, next is a catback single in dual out 50 series flowmaster.

33x12.5R20 Pro Comp A/T's. They rub the swaybar at full lock when you go over a bump because of the +27mm offset the stock wheels have, but I just avoid using full lock. A .25" spacer would fix it up. When you go from a 20" P rated car tire it comes with to a 10 ply LT E rated tire, they are about 20lb heavier per corner. I lost about 2mpg with a 6.2L, I would expect 3-3.5mpg loss on a 5.3L. You don't need an E load if you don't tow or carry weight. You would lose less and maybe have a better ride if you bought an LT D rated tire. Mine is 2.75" level up front with a 2" rear block and extensions.

295/60/20 on a Level with stock OEM 5 spoke wheels.   There was SOME rubbing with the plastic panel inside the wheel well.  I zip tied it back and have no issues.   At FULL cranked turn, the wheels are about 1/16" from the control arm at the top or even less!!!   I WANTED and still WANT a bit wider tires, but due to the offset of the stock wheel (+1) this is not possible without a true lift.   I really like these wheels as they look like they "belong" and maintain a rugged appearance.   So, yes, they do fit and they look pretty good! 

 

As I mentioned, I would still prefer a wider tire for a tad bit more of an aggressive stance.  That will come with significant increased cost though due to my options at this point...  new wheels with a negative offset/new tires = $$$$  or a lift and new tires = $$$$.    I don't want to lift it though and sacrifice the smooth ride I still have.  I had a 16 (same truck) with 305/20s with a 4" lift.  It looked great but it did NOT ride anything NEAR what this one rides like.  I don't want to sacrafice the ride.  So...  I'm kinda stuck with where I am, or wait till it's new tire time and go with a whole new wheel package also.

 

Again, they fit ;)
