GM Sets Odd 5-Year Goal For EVs - Half Its Fleet?

General Motors issued a short press statement today saying that by 2023 GM will launch 20 all-electric vehicle models. That time frame is four model years from right now. Which seems to mean that GM has secretly been in development of 20 new models. At current count, GM produces a total of 40 individual models in the U.S. market. Of those, exactly 20 sold less than 3,000 units last month. For perspective, the Ford F-150 sold over 80,000 units last month. So, in essence, GM plans to electrify either half its fleet, increase the number of models it sells by 50%, or electrify all of its popular models. After all, why replace a Buick Regal that is presently selling 98 units per month with an EV?

 

More likely, GM has some sort of hedge included in its plans it didn't announce. For example, some or many of the new EVs may be neighborhood electric vehicles or smaller than subcompact vehicles. Many may be for global markets such as China. GM-Trucks.com has reached out to GM for more info and will report it as it becomes available.

So lets just compare this PR with FERDS this week? Heck throw in Tesla too? They are a Auto manufacture? No wait they are a technology company? No, wait a Battery company....No, that is Panasonic arghhh....

Anyway, it's becoming more obvious everyday that GM is really highly more skilled and on their toes than most thought. Although nobody has written a complimentary piece about the company in 20+years...

First, GM is unquestionably the leader in battery technology for autos. You can all argue that but it's undeniable a few analysts mention it but most have been shy at admitting it. FERD has spent little on EV in Last 5years only on Aluminum trucks and Factory overhauls to support the Aluminum initiative.

GM spent their money on EV during crisis and after while forgoing the Aluminum initiative until models after K2's for full Size trucks and Suv's. GM also spent millions on Patenting the Aluminum welding techniques using current Steel methods and production equipment for Dissimilar metals. Let's face it GM spent pennies to FERD'S billions on AL initiative to accomplish the exact same outcomes. Actually GM was able to almost WELD everything while using 1/10th the adhesive and rivets that FERD needs to produce same body types.

Now being as DUMB as GM and everybody else who believes that story. They were able to accomplish the VOLT architecture and drive trains. Look at the progress from Volt1 to Volt 2.0 that right there should have shown every doubter that GM is simply not playing and the efficiency and scalabilty of VOLT 2.0 architecture is unprecedented......Meanwhile FERD was doing nothing and everybody was talking TESLA! Yet, nobody was talking about the overall reliability of TESLA's just only watching with rose colored glasses the freak show MUSK.

FERDS latest PR is basically a cry for help and explaining we have much catching up to do compared to GM's where their about to DROP 20EV's models on you fools by 2023? Also, FERD is now giving up on car sales like Fiat/Chrysler why? Because GM is the only one making any profit on their cars and will continue to garner those manufactures lost "Car' sales!

Tesla reported what 300 Model 3's remember the 30K electric car which was how late and how much over the the 30K? Really, GM pumps 600 vehicles a shift! 2 and sometimes 3 shifts a DAY! With Fit and finish to likes of no other manufacture.........TESLA decided to jump into a known "feast or famine" industry that has to turn on a dime and survive on 8-10% margins only because they can output MILLIONS OF UNITS A YEAR!

My friends GM is alive and about to kick some auto companies asses! Be vary afraid if your holding onto 360.00 dollar shares of TSLA which is producing 80,000 vehicles a year? GM pumps that number on 1qty vehicle/2 models called the Silverado/Sierra.....in 1qty month! GM is poised to put a hurting to a few folks it seems.....

if GM is such a leader in automotive technology, why did GM need a $50 billion dollar taxpayer funded bailout to keep from going bankrupt?

Really, you want to go there? Banks were taking Cash to stay alive....BOA,Fannie,Freddie pretty much every BIG Bank hundreds of regional banks! Being like almost every business including the one you work for it's all on Razors edge to have profit cover expenses? Having that situation unlike something never really seen other than ALL the banks closing.....you do what is best for the American people and the workers.......It was absolutely the Correct decision to make! Loosing the BIG THREE would have just ruined a couple hundred thousands American jobs/families lives etc....not to mention the TAX revenues associated with the business?

 

I mean get a clue...........Your life and everybody around your life has been better off because of the Government funded bailout to businesses across the USA

Ford seems to think that the future depends on them forcefully shoving tiny, force inducted, direct injected 4 and 6 cylinder engines down our throat, and body construction that is more commonly found in high end sports and luxury cars.
