Anyone with a center console?

Recommended Posts

On the 2017 Silverado 1500, does the center console lid have a led light inside to light up the inside of the console? I have a bench seat and want to install a little light inside my console and possibly use the same led as the center console

Full center Console does have a light that is activated by a switch in the lid hinge.

Would it be possible to wire in a light on my version of console? And what would be the best way or route as well as light?

I also have the jump seat and you have given me an idea.  I have a little light that plugs into a USB port that would be perfect for the rare occasion I think a light would be useful.  Maybe you may find a similar solution at computer accessory store.

I happen to have both jump seat and console out right now. Here is a pic of the switch mounted to the hinge. I am pressing it in my thumb.

The lids are mounted differently because the jump seat has steel hardware to Support sitting in it.

I have removed the inner plastic (comes out really easy) and I’m sure some sort of light mod with a switch could be fabricated.

Is the led light built into the switch?

I wonder if I could use that same light and Mod my console to fit that? Do you know what type of wiring is going on behind the light?

In anticipation of this question being asked next, I pulled it out :). 22AWG stranded wire. Power from the main console harness goes to the switch first. Then from the switch, to the LED.
