2017 hub dust cap deleted?

When I performed the level on my '17, I quickly noticed that the front hubs were not equipped with the small stamped steel caps to protect the hub nut and threads from dirt and moisture. My '13 had the caps, as does a friends '15. Apparently, GM decided to save a penny a truck and delete them. I used 23203672.

Most cars don't have them anyway, they are more a decoration than anything.

I wouldn't mind having them for a little extra insurance, but when I think about it I don't think they're needed. The rim seems to do a pretty good job of covering the hub, especially if you have factory rims since they fit around the hubs the best to help close it off. If you can get them cheap then why not, but I wouldn't worry over not having them. Older vehicles from decades ago may have needed them, but with rims now a days I don't think they're needed.
