I am new to this http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/profile/181793-grubbworm/ , but not new to truck forums. I recently won a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4X4 Extended Cab 6.0 in a raffle. I won it at the local Cobb EMC 2017 Annual Membership Meeting. My wife and I already own a 1985 Ford F-150 4X2 truck that we purchased when we got married. We have done quite a few upgrades, repairs, and restorations to it throughout the years. I look forward to working on this truck as well. I think we will make this GMC our new Go-To truck for Fishing, Camping, Hauling, and Towing. I enjoy doing 99% of my own automotive mechanical work, and some limited bodywork as well. Being that this was a work truck with 160,000+ miles on it when we acquired it, I have already come across a few issues. Even though it appeared very well maintained, the first issue was with the burnt out DRL’s. I replaced them with some new sockets and 7114 LED’s. There are what appear to be stress cracks around the front stake pockets on the bed. That will be a welding and body project for a later date. I have also wired my Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller in. The next issue happened on Halloween evening, the Check Engine Light came on. Today I went to the local O’Reilly Auto Parts, where they pulled a P0327 – Knock Sensor Bank 1 code. After some forum reading and some YouTube’s, I pulled the plug on some OEM GM parts on Amazon. It appears that I will be doing another repair in the upcoming future (weather permitting). I am also considering doing the headlight lens cleaning and polish. I recently did this on my wife’s 2005 Mazda 6 and turned out fantastic. I highly recommend the Sylvania Headlight lens cleaning kit. The cost was $20 and 1-2 hours labor time. I also put the before and after pictures in Photobucket of this. I look forward to sharing pictures of the repairs and upgrades that we do to this truck as time goes on.
