Trucks OEM remote start stopped working after check engine light came on. Codes are for EVAP items. Now the remote acknowledges lock doors, then immediately after hitting remote start button and holding it, lights come on, it makes a noise as if a cylinder moved, like doors cyphering, then it stops. But it wont start truck.

Any idea what it may be?

Fix the Evap code and it will fix the remote start. As long as the SES light is on the remote start is inop. What codes are in the vehicle? Maybe I can help you fix it?

Thanx everyone. I replaced the vent valve and relocated the hose to the transmission and the pressure switch on the engine. COdes are still there. I have the pressure switch for the tank i am putting on this month, when I get a day off.

Nice to know its not much more than the CEL causing this.

It could, But very uncommon. The vent valve you replaced, What did it look like? Did it look like this? http://amzn.to/2BEOhy2

 

Also, Do you have any type of scanner? If so we could do a quick test and see what's going on. A lot of times, people replace the fuel tank pressure sensor when the actual problem is the purge valve. Think about it. If the purge valve can't pull vacuum it will think the system has a leak.

I replaced both valves. It was scanned and I had this code. I am disconnected battery prior to replacing each one. CEL went out, then came back very quickly.

I need to purchase my own scanner. Any recommendation for this truck, besides a Tech 2...

I don't even use my tech 2 anymore and I bought my own lol.I have a Bluetooth/Wifi scanner and I use Auto Doctor Pro. I carry it in my pocket all day long while I am at work and when I need to connect to a car I just pull it out and go. I can do just about everything with it besides programming. I can do all of the special functions tests, see all of the graphs, command the inputs and outputs. It works great. I was skeptical at first. But now all of the mechanics have one just because of how easy it is to use and you don't have to carry that big tech 2 and the candi module around with you. Also you can scan codes all the way up to 18 now.

amazon doesn't have any in stock and sounds like they may not get them anymore. any other suggestions?

Would this be able to perform the routine that exercises the ABS solenoids, if you believe you have air trapped in the module?  Thanks.
