Flowmaster Super 44 with catalytic converter

I have a 90 GMC K1500 with a 350 TBI. I want to install a Super 44 muffler (3" inlet, dual 2.5" outlet). How restrictive are these cats? Will I still get a good (hopefully at least somewhat loud) sound if I leave the cat in place?

 

Sorry, I hunted for videos but all I could find were ones with no cats.

Are cats required where you live? I would try it first without them and see.
