I have always had great results from Bilstein shocks. I used some ProComps once on that bodystyle truck, but anything much larger than a miniature will contact the frame in the front, or my ProComos did. ProComps are twin tube BTW, so they are larger but not better. Rancho makes some nice shocks, so does Fox.

I posted a long post about shocks a while back. You can search my posts for it and read it or you can just take the shorten version.

Bilstein shocks are nice - http://amzn.to/2C9Zk31  $75 each

I'm a Rancho guy myself - http://amzn.to/2CCfC5U  $200 for the set

Automoto will do the job - http://amzn.to/2C8gu12  $70 for the set

I'm happy with the Rancho RS9000s on my truck.  In particular, I found having the front set to "medium" was fine, but setting the rear to 1(out of 8) was better, as it was riding like a buckboard particularly when empty...

Some people adjust them depending on whether they are loaded/unloaded, but for me, the adjustment is a set and forget.  Make it ride as best as it can, and leave it there.  With other shocks, it's either

-I like it

-it's not bad enough to throw them away and buy another brand/model shock

-it is bad enough to throw them away and buy another brand/model shock
