Max tire size on suburban

Recommended Posts

275/55/20 is the stock 20" tire size so that will have zero diameter increase over the 18" and the stock 265/65/18 tires if you are looking for a larger diameter tire.  The 18" and 20" diameter are 31.7-31.9" average, so we will round that to a 32" diameter tire.

I would say at most without a leveling kit, a 275/60/20 should fit (that's a 33" tire).  275/65/20 is a 34" tire and I would think that would rub.  A 285/55/20 may be too wide and might require some wheel liner trimming at full lock, but the diameter is 32.4" so in between the stock 20" and the 275/60/20.

So ideally, 275/60/20 without a lift or level should work.

Please help with advice, I just switched my stock 18” rims with 275/65-18 tires out for 20’s with 275/60/20 tires on my 2018 z71 Suburban and they rub pretty bad!!

If I do a 2” leveling kit would that likely resolve my issue with the tire size of 275/60/20’s? Or should I do a tire size of 275/50/20?

I find that strange, what offset are the 20s? On OEM wheels my 2016 Suburban with a lot of miles (suspension has definitely settled some) fit the 275/60R20s from my truck without issue. 275/50s would be too small, stock size for the 20 spec'd Suburbans was a 275/55R20.

If you have aftermarket wheels the offset it likely your issue, either way get someone in the vehicle and turn the wheels both ways while you're outside to see where it's hitting. You may be able to trim/bend something out of the way or see if going up would help.

Here is my 16 with 275/60R20 BFG All Terrains, completely stock suspension with no rubbing.

275/55R20 will have no issues.

What type of wheels are the 20"?  Aftermarket?  OEM?

I have a 16’ Yukon, stock says 275/55/20, i was wondering if 275/65/20 would rub? I checked measurements and I know truck would come up an inch as well, would I have to trim anything I’m debating but I do want it to sit higher then with stock, my RAM truck  is a 1500 two wheel drive and it’s got the 275/65/20 and I don’t have any issues with it rubbing so I thought maybe my Yukon won’t either, thanks in advance for advice

I have a 2016 suburban z71 off-road I wanted to know what’s the biggest tire size I can fit?

Just like those guys, easy to run 275-60-20 and if a fresh suspension and or with a level, 275-65-20.  If you want to go wider, search for photos but that's about as tall as you can fit in there.
