Sitting on the side of the highway waiting on a tow truck

Recommended Posts

2014 Chevy Silverado 4.3l V6

So heading in to work right now, I lost all power. Came to a stop and truck won't restart. Check engine light is throwing codes p0106, p018b and c0700. I have ZERO oil pressure but am not losing any oil.

So I'm sitting on the side of the highway waiting for a tow truck to take it to the dealership.

Anyone have any idea what the culprits could be? Would these codes fall under the powertrain warranty?

could be a grounding issue at the g121 grounding point, that's the ground for fuel pump driver control and fuel composition sensor, or do you have aftermarket rear turn signals by chance?

Hopefully that'd be the case, which would be an easy fix. I don't have aftermarket rear turn signals, but I do on the front.

location of that ground point  is on page 254 here https://www.gmupfitter.com/files/media/photo/474/2014 BBM Electrical section_10_18_2013_WIP.pdf if you're still waiting and want to kill some time.

Thanks! I just left the dealership. $65 for the tow (luckily insurance will reimburse me), $115 for diagnostic. Hopefully if its anything more than just the ground, it'll be covered under the power train warranty, but if not, I know the first thing I'm going to check! Thanks for all the input, hopefully it's something as easy as the ground.

there was a recall on some of the fuel pumps in 2014's recently: https://gm.oemdtc.com/7620/13370a-product-emission-recall-fuel-pump-pressure-regulator-replacement-2014-chevrolet-silverado-gmc-sierra

check your vin to see if it was affected, i mean, the dealer probably did already, but it's free to doublecheck https://my.gm.com/recalls

You've got to drop the gas tank to swap it, huge pain in the ass imho, I'd pay someone to do it.

Well that sounds generally like a major PIA. Unfortunately my truck wasn't effected by the recall, and I assume it doesn't fall under the powertrain warranty either. Gahhhh....my first Chevy and it's not off to a good start, even though I do love the truck.
