Driveshaft spline grease

Recommended Posts

2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive?

If its 2 wheel drive, GM 19257121.

4 wheel drive, no grease unless its for the front shaft, in which the front shaft will use GM 19257121.

Rear shaft on 4x4 does not use grease as it can contaminate the transfer case fluid and cause damage.  Dexron 6 is the only acceptable lubricant for the rear slip splines on 4x4.

The info above is specific to 2014-2018 K2 1500 pickups.   Other model years may vary.

Can't comment on what type of grease to use, but really curious why it would need shortened?

Truck is lowered. Driveshaft is almost all the way pushed into the transmission

The 19257121 grease is what you'd need.  I'm not sure if there is a direct substitute to it, but the spec GM Specification 9985830 is all it has to meet (whatever that is lol).

I'd think most anything listed here should work: https://www.google.com/search?q=PROP+SHAFT+SPLINE+GREASE&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi8uNjRou7ZAhWFo1kKHQ0ADe4Q_AUICigB&biw=1680&bih=910
