2014 Sierra Denali 6.2 bent push rod problem

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have a 2014 Sierra Denali with 70,000 miles on it, it is tuned but the engine is stock. Last Sunday I floored it passing up an 18 wheeler on the Highway and I heard a pop, my check engine light came on and the engine started missing. I drove it back home and plugged in my scanner tool. The tool called for engine miss fire on cylinder # 6. I removed the valve cover and found the exhaust push rod on cylinder # 6 to be bent. I replaced the push rod cleared the code and the engine ran fine. Today on the way home from work I accelerated a little bit to pass a slow driver and my engine started missing check engine came on Cylinder # 6 miss fire again. I figured that it was the same problem but all of the sudden my check engine went off and the truck is running fine now. My question is could I possibly have a bad lifter? or what is causing this issue?

Thanks in advance

Usually a pushrod is bent from valve hitting piston. More common on manual cars that are over revved. Like missing a gear shift while racing. Not sure if cylinder 6 is a dod cylinder, but I would definetly be ready for more problems. Treat it as a perfect time to cam swap.
