Roaring sound

Bobbie

Question

I have a 2014 chevy silveraldo 1500 and when I push the gas it sounds like when you put a card in the spokes of a bicycle.  Could it be the axle going bad?  I just replaced the wheel hub in oct. Also I feel like a grinding feeling in the pedal

Could be a differential failure, transmission, or universal joint failure. U-joints are easy to check - vehicle in neutral, driveline unloaded (wheels blocked or off ground on jackstands), check for play in any and every direction at each u-joint by pushing and pulling - any slop felt is a worn out u-joint.

The other 2 issues take a trained ear to diagnose by yourself. Have one of your buddies hit the gas while you're standing outside the vehicle nearby, and see if you can pinpoint the noise (without getting run over, of course). If you see the driveshaft turn without the wheels moving, then the differential is going to need an expensive overhaul.
