Firestone or AirLift Air Bags?

Planning on rear air bags to compensate from light to full-rated loads on '05 1500HD and want to retain best possible ride under both conditions especially on washboard-type back roads (like I live on).

Both Firestone and AirLift make kits specifically for this vehicle which fit in place of the jounce bumpers. Any experience out there with these two brands?

Sorry to hear about so many failures. Sounds like the bracket does not provide for enough clearence in the first place, but since both brackets are probably the same, how come you have only had problems with the left side? Is the upper bracket on that side perhaps missaligned with the lower axle bracket?

Did they cover some of these failures under warranty? When they worked, how did you like them?

I hope I will not have any clearence problems with the set-up for the 1500 HD as the bag mounts below the frame rail and between it and the jounce pad on the axle (the rubber jounce bumper is removed). There should not be any bracket, frame or spring close enough to worry about.

Thanks, Rip

I have the McGaughy's rear helper bags in my Silverado SS. They are Firestones I believe. I haven't had any problems with mine and I've had them for a while now. I've taken trips to Ensenada Mexico and USC games with a full bed and the bags work like a charm.
