What was the first year that the 5.3L 285hp V8 was available in the Tahoes and Yukons? Was it 2000? 2001? 2002? I know the body style started in 2000.

Don't know for certain, but didn't it come out in 1999 1/2 ?

Yep, as long as its the same as the silverados. I had a 99 1/2 pickup with it in there, along with the new body style.

Guys I am not sure about the HP when the 5.3 first came out. Wasn't it 270 until 2002 and then it went to 285?

The 1999 tahoe had the 5.7 as a base engine rated at 255hp. the 2000 model year tahoe (which I think showed up as a 1999 1/2) had the 5.3 rated at 285hp and good for 325 ft.lbs

Edit: opps, looks like I was a little slow on the draw (busy watch Ohio State crash and burn)

2000 sounds right, as I know my 99 is 270.

Yep,2000 was the first year for the 285hp 5.3.
Also the 4.8 was bumped up from 255 to 270hp,This was done by GM putting in the camshaft from the 6-liter.
