Ez Lift Tailgate?

My '07 is supposed to have tailgate assist. How can I tell if it does or not?

easy lift can not be added to a non easy lift tailgate because it is missing the holeon the right hand side for the torsion bar to go through. i found it disturbing that it was a $95 option. when you order a new tailgate the easy lift and the regular tailgate are the same price. about $600

I could not tell the difference between my 01 2500HD and the 09 1500 with the tailgate assist. Oh well...

Pleeeaaaasssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, I have it on my 2009 and its a joke. As big a joke as the Ford "man step".

Man Step material....... That is just about all I want to say....

 

My other half has ABSOLUTELY NOOOOOOOOO problem closing any tail gate on any truck I have ever had or currently have...... And yes that includes the tail gate on the 49'.....

 

As far as the beer.... Just put it in the bed without opening the D$#& Gate........ Get them out of the cooler ONE AT THE TIME...... And if your drinking it don't worry with closing the tail gate... I'd hate for ya to spill some....

This option helps my girl and sister open the tailgate with no problem, on my 2006 the tailgate felt heavier than the one on my 2007 I could live without this option though.

Who says you have to use your hands? Just stand by the tailgate with a beer in one hand, and a beautiful woman in the other...and the tailgate is magically closed!

If you need an EZ lift tailgate, you should be driving a Prius.

 

My new GMC doesn't have it and I manage to get the gate shut after putting down my beer.

 

If it means I can close my tailgate without putting down my beer, it's worth every cent of that $95.00!

I don't have the easy lift tailgate and I have no problem opening or closing my tailgate, nor do I feel it is exceptionally heavy. I think that an "extra sturdy" tailgate option might be a better deal. You know, something not drilled full of holes on top and braced internally so it will resist abuse and overloading better.
