Center Console Removal

Does anyone know how to remove the center console? I want to remove the piece with the cup holders. I was thinking of putting some left over 3m protective tape over it. It is getting scratched up fast. I have a 2008 sierra all terrain. Thanks for the help.

Mine just lifts straight up, that is the cup holder piece. If it is the whole square centre depressed piece just get a small flat screwdriver (carefully) under the lip to lift a corner and the whole piece can be removed.

aye its prolly like the escalades i do every day. best to use a plastic flat bladed tool and itll pop up. thogh its in there considerably tighter that prev model years. and like he said CAREFUL, they are also more fragile than prev years.
