2006 Silverado 12v Trailer Constant Problem

Recommended Posts

Mornin fella's...

I have no power to the 12v constant post on my 7 way.

I have a 40A maxifuse in Stud #1 under the hood, and a 30A in Stud #2.

Any thoughts?

Should be post #4 in this diagram:

I had ALL of the wiring pulled out of my enclosed bike trailer because the interior lights didn't work. Then I put my test light on the truck.

When I hooked the F350 up, the lights worked with no problem.

Mine was these (the ones are in BOLD):

The fuse block access door is on the driver's side edge of the instrument panel. Pull off the cover to access the fuse block.

To remove fuses, hold the end of the fuse between your thumb and index finger and pull straight out.

You may have spare fuses located behind the fuse block access door. These can be used to replace a bad fuse. However, make sure it is of the correct amperage.

I know because I tried to install a powered taillight converter and ended up shorting out all of those fuses...if that all checks out, you are gonna have to get under the truck and have someone in the driver's seat change signals, hit the brake, turn on the lights while you probe the wires that run from the cab under the bed to the OEM outlet (before the 7 way split)

Everything tests on the test light at the 7-way...

EXCEPT the + 12v.

Trailer brakes

R. Turn

L. Turn

Taillights

Aux/backup

I could change the Interior lights on the trailer to work with the Taillights.

It would SOLVE my problem, but not FIX the problem.

I am quite adept at 12v wiring.... changing the trailer wiring is no big deal.

I really want the Silverado to be correct though.

My 04 F350 works properly.

I don't want to tear too deep into the truck, maybe a dealer fix?

does it matter if the key is in the ignition or not?

I don't mean to sound snippy...

I truly appreciate all of the input.

I'm sure this is a simple something I'm missing.... just frustrated.

Been working on this for 2 1/2 days now, I'm at the end of my patience with it.
