Road Noise W/ Mickey Thompson Mtz Or Cooper Stt

Can somebody with either of these tires tell me how noisy they are on the highway

"Noisy" is relative. Compared to stock? Loud. Is it unbearable? Not even close. If you need/want a mud tire, I'd say it's well worth the extra noise, but if you do a lot of highway driving and don't like the whirr of a mud tire, skip it.

Not to hijack the topic but how are the mtz's for snow? Ive seen a couple members talking about them saying they are good becasue they have more siping compared to a mud tire like wrangler mts...

I'm going to be needing new tires soon and get a lot of snow by me in buffalo ny....

No mud tire is going to be great on slippery roads because of the small contact patch (due to large voids between lugs), but I am impressed with how they handle. From a stop they like to spin, but once you're moving they stick pretty well, because of the siping. Deep snow is a whole nother story though. They pull very well, and self-clean extremely well. I was very impressed with them in deep snow.

Nope, not rated for mileage, but I don't believe any mud tire will be. People have been getting 40k out of them, and I think I'm on pace for about 35-40k with 12k on them now.

At times they are louder than other times, it's weird. But like Dan said, it'snothing that's unbearable, you make small sacrifices to have aggressive looking tires.

My Cooper STT's are great in the snow, and they are one of the better looking mud tires IMO.

I installed the STTs last week. In town I haven't noticed them over my exhaust or the radio, if you ride in silence you might hear them. On the highway they're a little louder but you are still able to hold a conversation over them. I'm waiting to see if the noise worsens over increased mileage, but that remains to be seen. If you need this aggressive of a tire, they do really well in mud and dirt roads.

What PSI do you have them set at? The more air you out in them the quieter they will be.

I'm running them at 40 psi all around right now waiting to see how they wear. What are yours running at and how are they wearing? The noise now is hardly noticeable.
