Changing A 2001 Yukon/tahoe Pvc Value

Recommended Posts

The PCV valve is located in the very rear of the left valve cover. Remove it from the grommet and before you pull it from the hose, be sure it is not a fixed orfice PCV valve. If it has one small hole in the bottom with no ball valve inside, there is no need to replace it as it is simply a hollow piece that does not wear out. If it is a ball type and it does not rattle freely, it needs to be changed. I think an 01 came with a ball type but my 02 Yuk XL has a fixed orfice style.

I have read some comments of people replacing the ball type with the fixed orfice type due to some issue GM was having with the early 5.3s pulling too much oil through the ball type valves.
