  1. Today was day 7 of the building of my new house! This is my first house, and my wife and I are expecting a baby this summer! Things have moved fast for the house, last Friday we started breaking up the frost on the ground, (its been -40 here) and Monday we dug the hole. Monday night was the footing pour, Wednesday afternoon we poured the walls, today we poured the garage footing (hehe my first garage ) and also got our septic tank in. Next week the floor goes on, needless to say we are excited! Photobucket wont cooperate tonight so pics will wait!
  2. Have the shop who installed the kit t/s the cause of the popping noise. Its likely a problem with the install. You have a right to have a proper performing system, and If the company is reputable, they will honor their shop warrantee. As far as the OP goes, Most here will recommend an alignment after install but its not absolutely mandatory. Monitor your tire wear. If the outside starts to wear faster than the inside, then have your camber adjusted. That's all there is too it. You could also likely install it yourself, its not hard. worst part is you'll need a friend to pry the lower control arms down while you fight the struts into place. Everything else goes pretty easy. And I believe it was mentioned you'll need to separate the ball joint and sway bar links. If you have any sort of tool selection you can handle it. There are tons of videos on youtube of 2007-2013 being done, the process is the same!
  3. I too have the readylift. One of the big sellers for me was that with most of the budget kits, you needed to cut the top of the studs off of the strut's. With readylift, I didn't have too. Then, after whining about the price difference, (readylift is almost 300$, cheap ebay kits about 50$) I found one locally online, for 75$ from a guy who was installing a 4" BDS in his GMT900. That was the clincher! I helped a friend install his 40$ ebay kit, which is still OK but we had issues with the install, some of the supplied parts contacted the cv's , so we had to "customize" them a bit. That's the nice part about GMT900's over the previous IFS design, with torque arms. spring rates stay the same with coil-over suspensions. Factory ride!
  4. Went to goodyear to get a new tire. Ran over a fencepost hunting, $370 later I have one new 265/70/17 Duratrac. The rest of my tires are about 6 months old.
  5. I have found a lot of my warning indicators go away after a few days of driving when they do come on. (service 4wd, service stabiliktrak, etc) try giving it a few drive cycles to see if anything clears up.
  6. I recently repaired one like this using the jb method like others, and again it was in that exact spot, but on a 2002 Tahoe. (1500) I drained the t-case, cleaned the hole with brake clean and pressurized air, and applied the jb. seems to be holding thus far. If this is a common problem gm should address it somehow.
  7. hot oil VS cold oil, filter, settling time etc, all factors. Engines should be drained hot. This ensures all the contaminents your oil is designed to absorb come out when you drain it, and leave it drain for at least 15 minutes. The oil should be full when hot and no lower then 1/2 way down the operational area of your dipstick when cold. Like others have mentioned, Collect drained oil and compare with oil added. Id say any oil consumption is unacceptable from a new truck.
