No 411 on the Quiet Flow muffler you are inquiring about. A much quieter option will be a Magnaflow 12588 muffler. It is a large 5x11x22 single inlet/dual outlet that will be substantially quieter than what appears to be a Flowmaster Super 10.

Solid advice from others on this thread. I however am a cheap Sonuva Bitch so no way would I pay $500+ for paint correction and ceramic coating. Instead I purchased a Griot's Garage 6 inch DA polisher, Lake Country pads, Meguiar's M105 and 205, and M26 yellow wax, S100 carnuaba wax and recently Finish Kare Hi Temp Paste Wax. The Finish Kare is actually a sealant and is supposed to last 5-6 months. Here is a link to it: https://www.autogeek.net/finish-kare-1000p-wax.html For less than $20 you will easily get 10+ applications on a full size truck. Just spread it on very thin or it becomes hard to remove. As reviews state the can doesn't look like much but will do the job for far less cash.

2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers
Lgetz replied to Escalade1979's topic in 2014-2019 Engine, Driveline, & Exhaust
@Yondu go for the Magnaflow 12589. Sounds like you will be pleased with the sound. I've had the 12909 on my 2015 6.2 AT for 4+ years and like it. Not too loud or droney even when towing a trailer. Cold starts are louder than stock but the neighbors won't be annoyed with you. Nice deep, mellow tone and lets you know a V8 is under the hood when you gas it. At cruising speed on the highway 60+ mph drone and V4 chop is minimal even without the flapper valve. (Kept stock resonator) Around town I manually put the truck in 7th so that V4 mode is disabled. I ordered the muffler through Advance Auto using a 20% off coupon. Including installation the muffler was $155 or so. Look for a reputable exhaust shop who will carefully measure the stock muffler and flapper valve and cut them off precisely. Welding up the Magnaflow shouldn't be an issue if they know what they are doing. Good luck. -

Gave the All Terrain a 3 bucket wash and a coat of wax late yesterday. Will finish up the interior later today as only had a chance to vacuum the carpet and clean the Husky mats. -
Muffler Delete, yes or no?
Lgetz replied to Joeybones's topic in 2014-2019 Engine, Driveline, & Exhaust
Welcome to the forum @Joeybones My recommendation would be to take advantage of an Advance Auto 20% off online coupon and order a Magnaflow 12909. A competent exhaust shop will be able to measure and cut off your stock muffler and flapper valve. The 12909 will weld right in place. Deep, mellow tone at cruise and really wakes up at full throttle. Nice sound at cold start and minimal drone/V4 chop. Another option is a Flowmaster 53553. That muffler will require further modifications to fit since it is not the correct offset plus it is more expensive than the 12909. Good luck with whatever you decide. -

Beautiful looking truck!?? -
To view transmission temperature on driver information control (DIC) screen do the following: 1. Press left arrow on steering wheel to take you to menu options on DIC 2. Scroll down to settings 3. Scroll until you reach Info Pages and press right arrow, different options Oil Life, Tire Pressure, Fuel Economy, etc.... will appear. 4. Scroll down to the Transmission Fluid option and press the check mark button. 5. Exit the menu, return to Info Menu and scroll through the transmission fluid temperature will appear. Lots of good advice above re: towing. Give yourself plenty of space between cars and anticipate having to slow down ahead of time. The brakes on your truck are adequate for daily driving, all bets are off towing 6K pounds or more. Familiarize yourself with how the truck and trailer feel at different speeds. With a 20 foot trailer weighing 5,500 pounds Ioaded, I occasionally pull for work 68-70 miles per hour is the fastest I feel comfortable driving as the sway is minimal. Faster than that and the ride gets harrowing. Good luck and safe travels.

Check List - Before you hand dealer the check
Lgetz replied to lord.kinbote's topic in 2019-2025 Silverado & Sierra
Agree 100% with this. Take the time and really check for damage, scratches, blemishes, etc... Stuff happens and once you leave the dealership it's basically your word against theirs if you notice something amiss. If you are inclined tell the salesman to NOT have them PDI the truck. Take a bottle of spray detailer and 3-4 microfiber towels to wipe away dirt/grime without scratching your paint. Have them leave all plastics on the seats as well. Was able to do this with my 15 All Terrain and once I arrived at home gave it a 3 bucket wash and applied a couple of coats of wax several days later once paint had cured some. (Truck was shipped from Silao on Tuesday and I took delivery on Saturday) My truck has minimal swirls and looks fantastic paint condition wise compared to the overwhelming majority of K2 trucks and 2015 and newer F150's I see out and about. Since I park mostly in garage/covered space I use wax. If your truck is going to spend a good deal of time in the sun put on a sealant. Meguiar's #21 Synthetic Sealant and Finish Kare 1000P Hi-Temp Synthetic Paste Wax are good options for the money and will provide months of protection. Good luck with your new truck! -
My new baby...2018 Sierra Denali Ultimate 6.2
Lgetz replied to Joe98's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
Congratulations very nice truck @Joe98. Going to play Devil's Advocate and recommend you get a Magnaflow 12909. Nice sound at cold start, wide open throttle, cruising, and won't have the neighborhood inline to put you against the wall facing a firing squad. Will definitely let you know a 6.2 lurks under the hood. Best of all the price is right and the muffler is a 3.5 inch inlet/outlet matching the factory pipe. -
Should have got a 6.2, sell or supercharge.
Lgetz replied to ullose272's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
@ullose272 I am all too familiar with the situation. Had a 05 LLY Duramax Ext. Cab 4x4 with a PPE tune and it would move and then some. Stupidly sold it and replaced it with a 09 Crew Cab Z-71 5.3 and even with Hypertech programming it was a dog. Regretted that move until the day I sold the 5.3. I swore I would never buy another 5.3 only a Duramax or 6.2 gasser. (Lesson Learned) Saved for a year and a half and bought another 2011 Duramax Ext. Cab 4x4 which was great. My needs changed and I didn't tow as much so I traded for a 2014 6.2 All Terrain. The only regret I had was having bought a black truck which I traded for the current 2015 6.2 White Diamond All Terrain. Has all the power I need and gets decent fuel mileage. Using premium gas doesn't bother me because either way I would be spending the same/more for diesel. If circumstances permit try to unload your truck and buy what you want. Otherwise put a tune, exhaust, headers, cam, or supercharger/turbocharger on what you have and enjoy. -
Magnaflow 22inch or 24 inch
Lgetz replied to Graphite Silverado 2018's topic in 2014-2019 Engine, Driveline, & Exhaust
I am a cheap Sonuva myself. For the money with an online coupon $155 installed was a heck of a deal for the Magnaflow 12909 IMO. I feel you will not get as much drone with the Magnaflow compared to the Super 44 Flowmaster. For daily driving either the Magnaflow or Flowmaster should be good without loss of low end power or torque. A Flowmaster muffler to consider for a quieter sound is the 53071 which measures 5x10x22. It is a 70 Series which has "mild sound" according to their website as opposed to "deep aggressive sound" used to describe the Super 44 muffler. A test I recall seeing good results from was NorCalSS on a previous body style Escalade. With a Magnaflow 12909 it made 11 horses more on the Dyno compared to stock. -
Magnaflow 22inch or 24 inch
Lgetz replied to Graphite Silverado 2018's topic in 2014-2019 Engine, Driveline, & Exhaust
Currently using a Magnaflow 12909 on my 6.2 which is a 5x11x22 inch muffler. Flapper valve was deleted but kept resonator on because I do tow some. Deep, mellow sounding exhaust which is slightly louder than stock. Others have removed the resonator with no issues but YMMV. If you have a 5.3 a 12589 is the same muffler but with 3 instead of 3.5 inch inlet/outlet. A competent exhaust shop will be able to neatly cut out the stock muffler and flapper valve and weld on the new Magnaflow. As for taking out the resonator an experienced person should be able to fabricate a new exhaust pipe and do a good job. Again YMMV. -
Quick question on Bilstein 4600
Lgetz replied to Jmiller11331's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
Don't have any experience with the 9000XL shocks but they get good reviews online. The OE Ranchos that come on the Z-71 package GM trucks have few fans around this forum. -
Quick question on Bilstein 4600
Lgetz replied to Jmiller11331's topic in 2014 - 2019 Silverado & Sierra
No the ride will not be smoother than factory with the Bilsteins. The ride will be more controlled over bumps and other imperfections. If you are looking for a smoother ride consider some Michelin LTX/MS tires in a 4 or 6 ply tire. Perhaps install some adjustable Rancho 9000XL shocks and set them on the softest available setting. Even then don't expect the ride to be floaty like a mid 90's Town Car or Fleetwood sedan. YMMV -
Purchased a New Sierra, anyone run a 285/65/20
Lgetz replied to Bill109's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
Congratulations on the new truck Bill. BFG KO2 tend to run small compared to other All Terrain tires. A friend has this same size tire on a 2018 2500HD Denali Duramax 4x4. When I get a chance I will try to get measurements of the tires when mounted. Mounted the 285's have a height of 33 and 3/4 inches. This is inflated at 70 pounds of air pressure.
