  1. It is either oil seeping past the rings, or Mentelo trying to mind meld with you.
  2. I totally agree with this, I have been safely shooting for over 40 years and still go to a licensed gun range every month. Most ranges should offer classes by licensed instructors so you will be able to safely handle the firearm, and accurately be able to shoot it. I know I give ridicules answers in jest sometimes, however when it comes to people purchasing firearms with no real idea in how to handle them, that's when the unfortunate accidents happen.
  3. Let your ho out the tool box brotha (word)
  4. I respectfully disagree with this statement, I live in California and have purchased several hand guns. I took a written test, and upon passing, was issued a "Handgun Safety Certificate" that is valid for 5 years. Upon purchase of the firearm, I had to demonstrate proficiency handling the firearm (load it, unload it, engage safety, etc.). After a 10 day waiting period (after DROS background check) I was able to pickup the firearm.
  5. This is a product that has been used by many people on various boards with success: http://www.por15.com/
  6. These units are also known for cracking and leaking, it will give the impression of a bad rear main seal. Sara (2001 Z28) had hers replaced after 9 years. The engine heat is the culprit in the units cracking.
  7. Have them use this stuff (POR 15), you will have no more rust problems; http://www.por15.com/
  8. The corrosion your experiencing maybe due to geographically where you live. I live in a very warm, dry state (California) where of course there is no need to salt the roads. I have had vehicles for over ten years (daily drivers), parked outside (not garaged), and have never experienced any rusting of either lines or body.
  9. PLEASE do not take your vehicle to the "stealership" for this problem, as said above, they will take your money, and then tell you it is "normal" for the LS engines. I have piston slap in Sara (2001 Z28 40k original miles), and I have had it in my 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe (4.8L 107K original miles), and I have it in my 2013 Yukon Denali (23k original miles). The "ticking" goes away in the first few minuets, and also keep in mind that the fuel injectors will tick when the engine is operating. Hell, Sara sounds like a sewing machine when I first start her up.
  10. +1 on this, the engine block is aluminum, the piston sleeve is steel. When the dis similar metals are cold, there is a "gap" in the tolerances, causing the noise @ startup.
