  1. I recently tested the 2015 Silverado 1500 CC Z71 4x4 with the 6.2L against similar Ford, Ram and Tundra V8 packages. Silverado bested them in every category and felt far more planted when towing 6,500 pounds sans a WD hitch. Quietest cab interior, too. GM 6.2L acceleration is flat-out strong. It also delivered best towing and unloaded highway mpg between the three. (I also tested the Sierra version with Max Tow package…didn't like ride without a trailer in-tow.)
  2. When it comes to overall performance and mpg, axle ratio is important first step. Read this article yesterday on Truck Test Digest: http://bit.ly/1DetQCv
  3. Read a really good article on axle ratios on Truck Test Digest: http://bit.ly/1DetQCv
  4. On the bright side of all the manu's using J2807 is GM is the only pickup manufacturer that DOESN'T require the use of a weight-distrubuting hitch on the HDs when towing a trailer that weighs more than, say 8,000 pounds (as Ford and Ram do) to be "properly equipped." That says a lot about the new truck's stability control system and chassis.
  5. I'd recommend Ready Lift's new shocks as they are valved for better rebound control than Bilsteins. I'd also suggest a helper spring upgrade with the shocks like I did on my GMC 1500 using Super Springs. No change in unladen ride quality. They are also quiet. Great for trailer towing. Also think about changing front struts. Rancho has a good replacement for those.
