  1. A lot more buyers are looking for an option like this, more and more people want their trucks to be more car like and use them more like cars??? Why not offer it??? I have driven everything and I would much prefer the center shift because the column shift doesn't really offer much more space unless you got a bench seat
  2. Thing is, everyone who owns a ford and dodge love it, way more then half of them trucks sold have a console shifter and it's there because the customers want it... My GMC doesn't give me ooodles more storage space then a Ford does, it's about the same... I'd LOVE to have one in my GMC Only people that seem to hate it are the GM crowd because they have never had it, everyone else loves it... Atleast offer it in the high country and denali, those customers are the same customers buying limited, plaitnum's, longhorns who are looking for this sort of thing
  3. I seen both don't worry, Ford and Dodge have a nicer interior... I'd much rather sit behind the old slt/ltz interior. Truck still doesn't have a console shift that more then half of the other trucks have and everyone pretty well loves except the hardcore GM guys... I can't stand the layout of the work truck style interiors.... The step bumper is cheesy, and cheap looking. My truck had the stock goodyear's, they were junk and they are still using crappy tires. The flashy trucks are what sells, Ford and dodge sell every one of them they can build, GM should get in the game and do the same, because the high country is no where near as nice as a platinum, longhorn etc... GM even said they were kind of after the work market with the trucks... Ford does both, GM seems to have a hard time to do just the work crowd
  4. I'd much rather 3m clear film then this stuff, to me it belongs on a old beater to cover up defects, not on a 50,000 truck
  5. I went all over the truck the other day and it's nothing to write home about, the styling is totally bland, I met one coming toward me the other day on the road and could barely tell it apart until it was right on top of me, Back bumper looks horrible with the steps and cheap as well... Still running junk tires, cheapo interior... Ford and dodge make it look horrible in comparison... GM had over 6 years to hit a home run and take it to dodge and ford and I think they failed
  6. These new trucks are a downright let down, the factory rocker guard finish looks terrible IMO... I'd never want that on my truck ever, makes it looks like an old bomb someone is trying to make last for another year
  7. I know one thing we can debate this till the damn cows come home, But it won't solve the problem I and many other people are having with afm 5.3L engines... Some people can believe it's happening, some can plug their ears, close their eyes. and pretend it doesn't exist and these engines are the cats meow but they are far from perfect... There is a reason why a lot of people out there that have bought tuners disabled AFM and drastically reduced oil consumption or it stopped all together....AFM is a nice idea gone bad
  8. In these parts the 4.8 in the nnbs trucks are by far the most common engine, easy... Just about any dealer around here all have 4.8's Also I have seen posts from mechanic at GM dealers across north america the 5.3L engine was terrific until they ruined it with AFM, it's a joke of a system that GM screwed the pooch with Re: My truck has the infamous 5.3L oil consumption problem. The AFM system is a joke on these engines. we see issues with them on a regular basis. which would be daily. anyways, 2 different fixes. depending on what they do, you will either have the pistons and rings replaced, and possibly have AFM lifters replaced as well, and a new VLOM, and oil deflector installed. or, they will do the piston soaking with Top engine cleaner, and install the oil deflector. more than likely, probably remove engine, replaced rings and pistons. depending on which cylinder(s) is the issue, may need lifters as well. im sure they will replace the VLOM. oil doesnt have an affect on it, so conventional or synthetic doesnt matter. they burn oil either way. one thing i would do, always change oil every 3000 miles. regardless of oil life monitor. do not follow the oil life monitor. it is inaccurate. be glad yours doesnt knock, see a few in for that problem as well, or misfires. camshaft failure, lifters, etc... the engines were great until they added AFM to them. since then it has created nothing but problems. and it doesnt just affect the trucks. its across the line, W body, S/T, C/K, etc.... http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f53/my-truck-has-infamous-5-3l-oil-consumption-problem-106584/
  9. My personal Experience in real life in most places I go, the 5.3 is not all that popular of an engine unless it was an option in your truck or you drive an LTZ or SLT... All had 4.8's and those have little to no "oil burning" issues.... I can go to all the local dealers and out of like 50 trucks, maybe 5-6 would have a 5.3... the 4.8 I bet accouns for 60% or more of GM's truck engines... When I come online most 5.3 owners I have seen have a little issue with oil consumption... Some don't buy many do, My local dealers has had more then my truck go in with oil loss.... Most owners probably don't even have a clue that it does unless they check it and this day and age, nobody does anymore... they just change it when the OLM tells you too and if it did, I bet most owners would pass it off... Plus I think this will happen more and more with higher mileage 5.3 then lower mileage trucks... This is a serious issue that GM should deal with better then they have IMO and most owners should realize it as well.... These 5.3 have a serious issue and it not going to go away I think for most nnbs owners.... Personally in the year 2007 (year this truck was built) and now 2013, automotive engines shouldn't be burning oil... Not like this anyway because my truck doesn't get run hard... I shouldn't be sucking back a liter of oil in 4000km's or less driving 65mph down the highway... My G6 I had before this I beat the snot out of it and it laughed back at me and never ate oil Only thing that will fix this is pistons and rings...and NO way will I pay for that...
  10. Those are one thing I've never used... To me the magnet could fall off and all the metal particles if that happened would become dislodged and could end up back in the engine... The magnets seems quite strong though but I've never used one
  11. Mines been using around a liter of oil every 3000miles or so... and after that the oil doesn't seem to last... I'll top it up and it's down 1/4 of a liter less then 1000km's later... Engine has had everything done to it that could be done besides rings and pistons before I bought it... Hope it doesn't get any worse where I'll need rings and pistons because if that's the case, it's getting traded for a new Ford... This is 2013, a new modern engine shouldn't burn oil like this
  12. Like the picture shows, it's not that much longer that it hangs below the pan, I think it's right inline with the bottom... still not low enough to cause much concern
  13. Well tell me what ill effect it's going to have... Every little bit makes a difference, If MY engine can hold more oil, even if was only 1/4 to half a liter more or even less, that's good enough for me... Plus even 22mm worth of filter media is better then nothing... every little bit helps. Seems like a lot of guys don't see it like that... The 48 is fine but many guys choose to run the bigger, I do and no ill effects... But nobody can go around saying engine failure or whatever can occur, it's foolish
  14. Every vehicle I ever owned from my 88 Ranger, My 2006 pontiac g6 and now my 07 sierra, I always used a bigger filter...ALWAYS I know well enough to known a bigger filter WILL NOT cause engine failure... bigger filters have more filter media, hold more oil which extends oil change intervals, lowers oil temp etc... many benefits...I used/use the wix 57045 extended filter and it pretty well lines up with the bottom of the oil pan, and not hang super low where it's gonna get smashed off In my days as an auto tech, in school for auto tech and hanging out at my local garage have I ever seen a destroyed engine because of a bigger filter... Jesus, I even run a bigger filter on my girlfriend's lawn tractor If you guys all want to sit here and do everything GM tells you to do, go right ahead, I sure won't... with a 5.3 the more oil the better because all they do is burn it
