  1. That's actually well short of the scheduled replacement interval (read thread).
  2. Just saw this thread. One of my biggest gripes with my GMT800 Duramax is the waxed frame getting eaten by diesel (,,,its inevitable diesel makes it to the chassis via fuel filter changes, leaks, etc). I am forevever inspecting and recoating the frame, and am dissapointed to hear the 1500's are still being waxed. Especially since it appears on the new Colorado/Canyon twins they are actually painting the frames (good news for those waiting on the babyDmax engine).
  3. True true!. I just got a chuckle this morning when I logged on and noticed every thread here had you as the last poster days ago, but agree its simply holiday slowdown. May kaos hit the showrooms and threads soon !
  4. Cowpie looks like you killed every thread here LOL !
  5. Okay I am convinced, belt is fine. Change interval is every 150K miles, about every 8 years for me LOL. Can't wait for these to hit the lots, going to drive the 3.6L and babyDmax back to back and decide (I much prefer low end torque over horsepower for day to day driving).
  6. Ahh. Yea. Okay back to chains only LOL .
  7. Okay that's good info, thanks. I guess there's three years history on this engine and I have not heard of any ongoing catastophic failures (timing belt included). As soon as the babyDMAX is out I will test drive both it and the 3.6L, and not let the belt be a reason to not consider it.
  8. Well 8.1 it looks like we are the only ones concerned about timing belt reliability . Thought there would be others.
  9. Okay so the BabyDMAX has a timing belt, not a chain. Who else does that potentially scare off (besides me), and who is not scared off? And why? Do new school timing belts break like the did so often on my old Pinto (three times, thankfully that was not an interference engine so just left me stranded and not with a blown up motor)? I've only bought timing chain engines since then, sure like this BabyDMAX but I am skeered.
  10. Toyota should use your starting prices. I'm looking at thier web page right now, and it still says $22,505 including delivery charge on a base stripped Access cab.
  11. We're talking extended and crew cab midsize pickup trucks here (Colorado won't have a regular cab option) Starting price on a REGULAR CAB Tacoma is $18, 125. Starting price on EXTENDED CAB Tacoma is $22,505.
  12. Actually Colorado Extended Cab starting price ($20,995) is LESS than Toyota Access Cab starting price ($22,505).
  13. Don't forget this is MSRP, which is higher than what you can actually buy one for. Still, me thinks I will hold on to by '06 2500HD Duramax purchased new for $32.5K.
