  1. Update on my 2.7L oil consumption using Mobil 1 5W30 High Mileage formula. I currently have 3000 miles on my current oil change interval. yesterday I checked the oil and it was on the very bottom of the hash marks of the dipstick after sitting overnight. The level has dropped from the initial level about 3/4 up on the hash marks. These seems to be on par with previous oils used, I added about a 1/3 quart to bring it back up to around halfway on the dipstick. Will continue to monitor over the next 2000 miles on this interval. Still no leaks, this baby just likes to eat that oil.
  2. @customboss glad the video helped! It's def not a tough task, but supermanning on the radiator support definitely makes it a little tougher. I wish I had one of those engine bay creepers when I did mine.
  3. This should help, start around the 3:51 mark.
  4. I like the Blackvue line of dash cams. I have one in my personal vehicle and my work truck.
  5. It's based on the internal navigation software version. Notoriously, already out of date by the time the truck is sold ALWAYS. Do yourself a favor and disable this feature in the menus, and just pay attention to the real world road conditions and judge your speed based on actual posted speed signs.
  6. Leaky leaky. I must be the minority here, because I LOVE my truck with the Bilstein 5100's i have the fronts set at 1.5" and a 1" block in the rear and the truck rides so much better than stock.
  7. I think the reports have been that only some 12 or so trucks were effected. That's right 12. https://www.gm-trucks.com/heres-what-everyone-including-us-got-wrong-about-the-2-7l-cracked-block-engine-replacement-story/
  8. Honestly, the 8 speed in my truck has been fine. I've had it serviced 2x now. Once at 50,000 miles and then again recently at 96,000. I will keep up with +/- 50,000 mile transmission services for as long as I have this truck. I've also done all the differentials and transfer case every 50,000 miles. I replaced shocks at 96,000 with Bilstein 5100's, that was a noticeable improvement in handling and ride compared to the squishy OEM's. They were def tired. Original tires lasted to about 60k miles. I replaced them with Michelin Defenders, those are doing good, will probably last another 30,000-40,000 miles. My brake service monitor says my fronts have 59% life and rears have 78% life. I checked them out at my last tire rotation and they all seem to be wearing quite evenly. I did have to replace a wheel stud recently because the tire shop cross threaded a lug and snapped the stud off while doing a rotation. Other than the oil consumption, and the wheel stud. No other major issues. Truck has been extremely reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the country and back right now. California would probably be the only thing I would worry about if I did that.
  9. What tires do you have and what PSI are you running. You could go down to a Bilstein 4600 that’s more of an OEM replacement shock.
  10. My company routinely puts 200,000+ miles on our work trucks. In the last 10 years they have all been Chevy or GMC's. I think 2 out of our last 10 trucks needed trans rebuilds (6 speeds) but the rest have done fine with normal wear and tear items and regular maintenance. My current work truck is a 2022 Silverado LTD 2.7 turbo. 100,600 miles as of this morning on the clock.
  11. Possibly, I'd be worried the 5W40 would cause excessive oil pressure tho being a thicker oil at temp. But who knows if the difference would be noticeable.
  12. Since I am over 100,000 miles I started using the Mobil1 5W30 High Mileage formula in my 2.7L. This one here: https://amzn.to/438fCqt Technically its not Dexos...but its probably because some of the additives may hinder fuel economy a bit. I'm out of warranty anyways, so I am not gonna sweat it. So far I haven't noticed any adverse fuel economy effects. Will see if this oil helps with the consumption. I am going to stick with my 30% OLM changes, which is usually right around 5,000 miles. Unrelated to the engine...the damn tire shop snapped a wheel stud off when I was having a rotation and balance done. They are claiming the lug was cross threaded and it wasn't their fault....so I gotta work on that now.
  13. Replace ASAP. Put on some Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires. Good street and highway tire. With proper rotations you should be able to get 80,000 miles out of a set.
