  1. 9mos and almost 9k miles and still living with my vibration which has stayed pretty much same between 73-80mph with most pronounced vibration felt at 76-78mph. Was hoping after 10mo's it would get better or GM would figure it out...I've been thru many dealer attempted fixes including...new tires, new driveshaft, shim in rear end which was later removed, new larger diameter exhaust with no flapper valve, removed all of the BS plastic "skid plates" , engine mount shim...that pretty much covers it. So disappointed because otherwise like truck and engine...I have read every single post from pge 1..my .02 here is we are dealing with terrible tolerances in Mexican built drivetrain, stiff frame, and a horrible transmission which makes a ton of clunking and is constantly clunking and lugging the truck in too low a gear...that collectively result in our vibrations. Mine has gotten more pronounced in the steering wheel in addition to always there seat and pedal...so fact that GM techs are more aware of identifying the issue, but yet after replacing nearly everything but transmission, tells me this is not a single mechanical failure but a collection of poor tolerances, horrible transmission, and stiff frame. Bottom line GM has ****ed us on a 50k truck, and they do not and will never have a proper fix...those that press the issue legally have gotten GM to relent and buyback trucks yet the 15's have similar problems. See GM has not fixed the issue because the issue is related to many engineering and build problems...no doubt having cheap Mexican parts and labor only adds to their inability to properly fix the problem. I leased and look forward to my 3yr contract ending so I can get out of this POS truck.
  2. And they claimed my transmission and rear end were not the sources either. Meant to include that as I have posted recently I was I convinced the vibration was linked to a very sloppy transmission and rough shifting.
  3. We'll update after leaving my truck with dealer yet again to attempt to identify the source of my vibration, this time with a GM field tech on scene. They used a peeko? vibration tool this time and while they admit the vibration (see previous posts for various attempted fixes in past dealer visits) is there at 72 and above, they could not identify the source. Totally dissapointed after multiple attempts and a vibration that has gotten worse with 6k miles now on the truck a GM tech couldn't find the solution. 3 recall fixes while at dealer (trans fluid line, gauge software update, and transfer case) first oil and filter, and yet no fix for the vibration. The only hope I have at this point is the fact that GM is very aware of this problem, and I was told it's even been identified on new Yukons. Another local dealer had 4 vehicles at their location that the GM tech went to see. So at this point I feel unless I press for a buyback (I have thousands of dollars in subwoofer, radar/laser, led reverse lights, HID headlights, and led fogs) which will make a buyback very expensive for me, that I will have to wait now for GM to hopefully find a solution and issue an official tech bulliten or whatever they do to fix the problem. I
  4. New body or frame mounts would only mask a true engineering fault. Our vibrating trucks have a design flaw in one or more of the driveline parts that is causing this problem. I have 6k miles now on my truck and the vibration has gotten worse, so I agree with others who have said this will eventually cause other structural parts to fail, and someone is going to get killed if it occurs at 75mph. I am convinced its transmission and or torque converter related. My truck got dropped off today and I am pressing that route for them to pursue GM in terms of targeting for new parts. I have tried almost everything else others have on this forum. The vibration has gotten worse and is now present past 80mph and below 70mph at certains speeds, which was not the case earlier. Also I notice it now in my steering wheel whereas before it was mostly in seat and console. It is definitely worse when temps are hotter like above 80 than in 60's. The transmission in this truck is always looking for the next highest gear, clunks a lot at speeds below 40mph and just feels like a 20yr old transmission trying to work with a 2014 driveline and engine. Best way I can describe it. I also read that GM is trying to fast track improvements into the 2015 1500 one of which is an 8 speed transmission...Very suspicious if you ask me. Like they know they have a problem and that is their way to fix it. That would bode very poorly for those of us with 2014 6speeds that may be faulty. I will let you know what happens this time. I am considering a possible buyback if this can't be fixed.
  5. Chappy I couldn't be happier to hear that you have a resolution. I finally reached GM customer service, although they don't get very specific they did agree I should go back to the dealer I have been working who opened the original service case about the vibration. I then called the dealer and spoke to the service manager. Now keep in mind this is a dealer who I didn't buy the truck from, but learned about after from a friend and have had a good experience with. Good meaning they admitted right away there was a problem, and have tried multiple (see previous posts for the list) parts, over two extended service visits including driveshaft, with no success. The service mgr on Friday said right away GM is very much aware of the vibration problem, and in fact there was a GM field tech at their dealer the day before to explain how GM is using a new harmonic vibration tool to try to pinpoint the problem. The GM tech left to go to a Chevy dealer in the area (this was a GMC dealer) to specifically look at 4 different Silverado's, and apparently a couple of full size SUV's that had the vibration! So the cat's out of the bag with GM on this and they are trying to help, which hopefully means it's a matter of time, and not getting completely ignored by them. The service mgr when I told him of your ring and pinion fix, said they have tried that along with new driveshaft, and in one truck an entire rear end, including balancing the new shaft and it DID NOT fix those two trucks. I discussed the idea after all the has been attempted and documented on this post, that evidence is pointing towards the transmission and or torque converter, and he admitted this new tranny is "sloppy" in short and that they hadn't tried replacing one yet as a solution. He said he wanted to hear back from the GM field tech who was going to come back to his dealer after addressing those 4 Chevy trucks I mentioned at another dealership, and see what new information GM had learned, hopefully next week. I made sure to ask him to mention the transmission characteristics as possible source and he said he would. He also asked me to send him the link of this post given the vast amt of information here, which I did. Bottom line, glad it was the solution for you, but sounds like it has not been for other cases, and it seems like we've helped narrow this down to a driveline generated harmonic vibration, which GM is aware of and working with certain dealers to fix. So while I don't yet have a date to drop off my truck yet, until the dealer has more info from that field tech, I feel better about eventually getting this resolved in the not too distant future. I will of course continue to update the post with any info I get, and hopefully everyone else will do the same. It seems all of our voices have at the least made it back to GM. Good luck
  6. Chappy 22 days at the dealership with you rear end torn apart and no closure? Please have your lawyer call your dealer. That is typical of how GM is treating all of us.
  7. Jennifer, do you still work for GM customer assistance?
  8. Guys, here's a clue....it's not the shocks, and it definitely not the tires, and it's not the driveshaft, and it's not the ring and pinion, and it's not the exhaust, and it's not the AFM, and it's not the skid plates....from living with this vibrating piece of sh!t for 6000 miles, and changing all of the above except the ring and pinion gears (which others have to no avail) this problem is still unresolved. ZERO GM attempt to reach out to any of us who have been our dealers in an attempt to fix the problem, none of which have resulted in a fix. I will bet this is a transmission/ torque converter problem as nothing else we've all wasted time and monety addressing has fixed it. Have one or two of all the above helped? Sure each one might be a channel thru which the vibration is made worse, but none of them is the cause. We need to keep pressuring our dealers and ramp up the media and online postings of a brand new redesigned truck that has a major flaw. Folks this is GM, the same company who covered up an ignition defect that resulted in multiple deaths. Yes GM you have that blood on your hands. As well as a sea of recent recalls. Fuk U I am so tired of driving around a $50,000 vibration machine, which based on the fact at 6000 miles, has only gotten worse, will clearly lead to other mechanical failures down the road. Step the Fuk up and stop ignoring your customers. I guarantee this is going to escalate in the media and internet. We all need to make sure GM is held accountable. Call me, write me, email me...do something GM before you have yet another legal issue on your hands and in the public. Yours truly, a totally dissatisfied, and disappointed customer. You have my VIN
  9. We're so screwed. If GM is not willing to admit this is a problem and help, then we owe it to ourselves to advirtise to as many people as possible thru as many means via internet and thru different forums the truth about this pathetic lack of GM customer support to a address a very obvious mechanical defect. Apparently GM assumes if they ignore us the problem will go away. Total BS as we all bought what was supposed to be the best pickup truck on the market after the updates GM made. Lawyers, lemon law, internet postings. I have only posted once outside of this forum about this. Time to step it up. I hate driving my 2014 GMC Sierra that I spent over $50,000 on.
  10. Leviblue was thinking same thing. We did have a post regarding someone with the vibration who added slight lift and larger wheels and tires and it DID NOT help the vibration problem. A trans tune would be interesting but if it's a tolerance problem in the trans, wouldn't think changing shift points would matter. I am going to try calling my dealer with open repair on record with GM and report updated feedback and ask specifically about new transmission
  11. Wow. Maybe this is the breakthrough we needed. Has anyone had a transmission replaced as a result of the vibration? I am going to call the dealer who also opened a case with GM on Monday and update him on my vibration, which is only seemingly getting worse, as well as this topic of transmission and torque converter. I just drove home the return 85 mile trip I took on Friday and reported on, and without the rest of the family in the truck all I did the entire rise home was focus on this incredibly annoying vibration. I drove the entire way in manual mode mostly in 5'th gear, even tried 4'th in the 72-80 mph zone and it made no difference. I can now feel more vibration in my steering wheel, my passenger seat makes a noise w/out my wife in it, and even my driver's side mirror now giggles w/ the vibration. See my previous post re suspecting the transmission. GM where are you?
  12. Did the 85mile drive to weekend house, and agree w/ those who have stated hotter temperatures increases vibration. As a reminder, in case Jennifer from GM customer care ever checks back in our now 151 pge post, that my vibration mostly begins at 72-73mph and continues thru 80mph. Does not matter if transmission is in manual mode in 5'th gear, neutral coasting, or in drive and in 6'th gear. 2014 Crew Cab short bed, 6.2 SLT w/ 3.42 gears and Z71. I will add, the more time I spend behind the wheel, now with 5900miles on the truck, the more it feel like this maybe transmission or torque converter related. This transmission just feels so out of sync with the engine and gas pedal, always trying to shift to next higher gear, well before any of us would probably want for real world driving conditions. Transmission feels sloppy to be blunt, especially in around town driving at under 45mph and stop and start conditions. I have had multiple road force balances, new exhaust system which is larger diameter than stock but a GM system which has flapper valve removed, a new driveshaft, and dealer even tried shims in rear leafs to change the pinion angle in rear end, and I use a Range V4 mode disabler. None of which have made any improvement at all in reducing the high speed vibration. I now always drive the truck in manual transmission mode so the transmission is not as annoying. GM why don't you respond to your customers here?
  13. Laura M must be the equivalent of our disappearing Jennifer here on the GM forum. Lucky Chevy folks still have someone from corporate that still gives a damn about customer service. It appears GM And Jennifer have gone AWOL.
  14. Posted a review on AutoTrader. Next...Jennifer and GM why are you ignoring us? Are we supposed to put up with a new redesigned truck that vibrates like a out of balance 20yr old sh!tbox? Apparently GM I feels this is ok and we should just go away. That is not happening. Let's go people post the truth online. Nobody deserves to put up with this level of out of spec engineering on a brand new truck.
  15. I haven't even bothered posting yet about my undercoating peeling off, and resulting rust on the frame of my 2014 GMC SLT Crew Cab w/6.2 ltr V8...GM ( and Jennifer wherever you went) rest assured I am going to include the rusting frame and peeling underbody coating at every online website and GM's Facebook page going forward. Yes, you too can spend $50,0000 on GM truck that not only vibrates every single time you drive it on the highway between 73-80mph, but rest assured the undercoating is likely to be peeling off, replaced by rust. Yes RUST on a brand new truck frame. This is great marketing material for the web. Again, thank you GM for ignoring all of us "customers" and forcing us to point out these facts to all any potential buyers of your trucks who might happen to go online for reviews and information. What better source of detailed feedback could a consumer get besides direct owner feedback? GM you have made this all possible. Will continue to post here and complain as long as you ignore it.
