  1. Spurshot, just out of curiosity (and a little off topic, sorry) how many miles on the truck? Only asking because of the photo of the oil build up on the valves. I have yet to put on a catch can and after seeing yours, I'm thinking its not a bad idea.
  2. Someone several pages back in this Thread repeated several times to stop taking the truck to the Dealer for tire vibrations because they have no clue how to properly RF Balance the tires. While I don't think we should have to pay out of our pocket to do this on a new truck I finally did it. My truck has been in three times for the vibration at high speeds (73 to 83mph). Each time they would replace a tire or two and the issue would get a little better. The last time they replaced all 4 with Michelin LTX MS2 and the ride improved dramatically with only a trace of vibration left. I took the truck to a performance shop in the area and explained the issues to him and he laughed and said they do tires for local dealers all the time because the dealer cant fix it. So I stood there and watched as he did each tire and he explained everything as he went. 3 of the 4 tires on my truck were off by 1-3/4 ounces of weight and the 4th was 2 ounces off (so Dealer obviously cant balance a tire). Three tires came in at #18 RF and the 4th was #24. He said that the Dealer should have not even put the one with #24 on due to the vibration compliant I was having. Anyway, truck is glass smooth now up to 95mph and it cost me $70.00. I wish I would have went to them months ago and been done with this issue. Just wanted to share my experience with you all. I know all of these issues are not tires but its worth a shot.. Good Luck
  3. Has anyone found or been shown any pictures of the intake valves in these new motors? I was just curious how well the "new intake baffle" design actually worked after about 20 or 30k miles. I'm at 10k now and probably need to go ahead and get a catch can before its too late.
  4. When I got my truck I didn't even hear the whistle because I always had the windows up. It wasn't until a friend was behind me that he pulled up beside me and asked if the truck had a Turbo, and I said no why? Then he told me and I went by a wall with the windows down and heard what he was talking about. I took the truck in to the dealer and they just replaced the exhaust today, whistle is gone.
  5. Dropsix I did try the neutral thing and different gears (as others have) with no change in vibration.. Now I did just pick up the truck from the Dealer with the four new Michelin's and the vibration is gone, for now. It does ride nice and these tires should be OE on these trucks. One thing I noticed on the drive home was that they are very quiet compared to the GY's, which was a surprise to me because I thought the truck was real quiet to begin with. The only time I could really hear them was on concrete sections of the highway. I have had this vibration issue in the past and was taken care of with four new GY's about 4000 miles ago. Now it rides smoother than it ever has but I am obviously concerned that the condition may come back. Also the exhaust was replaced for the whistle condition which is now gone also. Also I did run different speeds up to 94 mph and did not feel anything or see the passenger seat vibrate at all, so fingers crossed.
  6. Still dealing with all of the same. Truck is back at the dealer after they offered to replace the Goodyear's with Michelins. Got a call last night saying the truck still has the vibration with the new tires and GM wants them to RF balance the new tires??? Why would they have put the new ones on without doing that knowing all the issues we all have. So this morning I get a call saying that all of the new Michelins were out of round and spec and that they are ordering 4 more new ones to try. I cant understand why they have not taken one of these vibrators in to their tech teams and designers at GM to figure this out and issue a fix, makes no sense to me.
  7. Thanks for the info PM26, just cant understand how the condition could get worse with the all things staying the same. However I do know that the tires are in different locations than they were when I took it in. Only because when they replaced them a couple months ago, two were dated 2014 and two were 2013 and the 2014 tires were on the driver side. Now the 2014 tires are on the front. They did say that the older (2013) ones were easier to balance.
  8. That sucks that it did not work for you mikeinmobileal. I am going through the same thing now. Truck had a vibration a few months ago and the dealer replaced the Goodyear's and RF balance and it took care of 90% of it. Then I went back last Saturday for an oil change and told them that the vibration had slowly returned and they ordered a new exhaust due to the whistle. So they called on Monday and said that GM wanted them to RF Balance again and test.... I said we have already done that when the tires were replaced and they said they had to follow GM guidelines. I said ok, but its a waste of time and that I wanted Michelins put on because this is the third time we have played the Goodyear game. So finally Friday they called and said that the RF Balance had not changed the condition and that they would try to get GM to put the new tires on and I could come pick it up until they get an answer back from GM. Here's the weird part. They said that one of the tires was coming in at 31 when they first RF Balanced it and they were able to get it to an 11. When I drove it home it was worse than when I took it in. Starting to wonder if is possibly a rotor or something else. How can it be worse when the balance produced a lower number??
  9. After reading this yesterday morning I had never used my Navigation and had a 70 mile run (one way) and it was within 2 mins of being accurate. Also took a different route near the end and it recalculated the route quickly the last 8 miles of the trip. I would suggest having it looked at by the dealer.
  10. Have a question after reading some of the earlier posts about rims actually spinning in the tire. I had my GY's replaced not long ago due to vibration (which did cure the problem for now) and noticed today that there is some kind of sticky glue like material on the edges of all of the rims. It did wash off with a little scrubbing but I have never seen this before. Is it common to have this when new tires are mounted? Or is this a way to stop the tire from slipping on the rim under heavy load or acceleration?
  11. Thanks everyone, I will go by the door sticker. Mine has 32 for front and back and 35 for spare. Yours are probably higher with the Z71. Appreciate it.
  12. I remember seeing the air pressure statements but don't remember what page (out of 102) that it was on. What pressure have you all found to be the best? 32psi as the door says? Reason I ask is because the new ones they installed yesterday are 35 or 36 psi and I can tell the difference in ride (harder). Thanks in advance for the info.
  13. Ok so I just picked up the truck with 4 new Goodyear tires that were RF Balanced and have zero vibrations from 0 to 100 MPH. We will see if they last or just go bad after a few thousand miles like the last ones. They did agree to put Michelins on if the problem happens again.
