  1. This is starting to get frustrating. I took my truck back in to get the recall and requested that they deal with the rough idle. Again the service writer said that these trucks all idle rough, and then he had the tech come out and tell me that the trucks idle rough intermittently. I told them I doubt that is how they were designed to work and asked that they look up any campaigns or service bulletins about installing a shim with a rough idle, they both said without looking anything up that there were not any. So I am wondering if any body has a campaign number or bulletin number for the 3-mm shim. On a different note they reprogrammed the instrument cluster so now it looks like a video game screen.
  2. I am taking my truck in this week for the transfer case recall and am going to hound them again about this idle. It has been pretty bad this summer due to the heat. Hopefully they will implement the fix with the shims.
  3. Jason, Thank you for that information, I will call them today. I have also attached a video that shows the vibration at idle in my vehicle now that it is getting warmer here in Idaho the vibration is getting worse. Mine actually never shows a warning, but I have the larger screen.
  4. any one out there have an idea about the shim bulletin number ?
  5. Hi there I was wondering if anyone has a copy of the bulletin or bulletin number for this issue? I was at my dealer the other day and they said that the only bulletin about this issue is that it is normal and nothing should be done. So if someone can point me towards a bulletin number that would help alot. Thanks.
  6. Nice that sounds like they got you taken care of that is great. I am going to try and get mine into the dealer next week hopefully if I have time.
  7. Janecka have you heard anything yet about your idle? Yesterday was my first decent length trip for a couple of weeks and when I came back into town at the first light it started to idle rough again I have been trying to recreate up till now but it does look like I need to drive it for awhile before it happens. When I hooked up my monitor to it while it was idling rough RPMs stayed pretty constant right at 500-510 only once dipping down to 490rpm. Just checking in, thanks.
  8. Will do, I only got a little bit of the vibration today but it usually only happens after it has warmed up and I get a decent run on the highway in then come up to a light. I hooked up my OBD bluetooth reader today though while I was driving and before the engine was warmed to 210F it idled at about 600 rpm, once to 210F idle dropped to 510+/- RPM when I did feel the vibration idle was dipping to 480+/- RPM then going back up to 510 rpm. Below 500 rpm seems pretty low to me, and surging between 480 and 510 rpm will probably make a vibration that can be felt.
  9. Janecka, That was a good video vibration is similar to mine, I do not see any variation in the tachometer but do feel it like a cylinder or two is missing during idle and it happens once the engine warms up and the coolant temp shows 210 degrees. I have not taken it in yet since I have been under the weather for a few days but I am going to be contacting my dealer and also take a similar video to yours so I can show them the vibration is there and not in my head. Let me know what you find out. Thanks. Ryan
  10. I went with a fold-a-cover, no flapping was easy to install and is easy to operate. It was not cheap but I compared a bunch of covers and this one seemed to be the best at its price point. I have only had it for a couple of weeks but no major leaks in snow or rain.
  11. I saw 12volt DC, I used my back probe to probe the wires that motomedic pointed out in his photos to confirm the wires. 0vdc then hit the key clicker and would see the jump to 12vdc, I set my meter to log the max and it was jumping just above 12vdc.
  12. I am going to get it looked at, I was thinking it might be bad gas since the rough idle just came about in the last 100 miles or so after some very humid and icy weather.
  13. Janecka, I was wondering if your dealer found a remedy for your rough idle. My sierra 5.3 with about 900 miles has started to intermittently idle pretty rough especially after it has reach operating temperature. Thanks
