  1. I got the amp replaced last week at the dealership and it fixed the chime issue. I assume it was a short or something in the amp. It didn't take them long to replace the amp (it's behind the rear seats). I thought about doing it myself but the work order says there is programming involved.
  2. The dealership has an amplifier on order for the truck. They said that is what GM suggested. Fingers crossed that it fixes the chime.
  3. I'm having issues with the chime in my truck. When I turn the key on, the chime will sometimes be extra loud (over 100db on a iphone app). Sometimes it will be all 5 dings will be loud & other times it will be the first ding loud then the rest normal. I've verified that the chime volume on the settings page is turned all the way down. I took the truck to the dealer for another item so I had them check it out. They said it is normal for these trucks to have loud chimes (blowing me off). I've had the truck since new & now has 204k miles on it. The chime used to be normal. Only major changes to the truck was deleting it July 2021. Appreciate any ideas.
  4. I don't know how you figured this out but that worked. Seems like a glitch in GM's system. It is very weird. Thanks for help.
  5. I don't think I changed any settings but the radio acts like it has a screen saver. If nothing is touched, the controls for radio or media disappear. While on media, if I want to go to the next track, I have to tap the screen to bring the functions back. No matter where I tap on the screen, it brings up another screen. It doesn't simply bring those functions back. Anybody know a fix? Thanks! Here is what the screen looks like with all the functions visible. Here is what the screen looks like when all the functions disappear.
  6. I got the truck back this morning. Yes they had to keep it overnight!! They said the radio software update is what took the longest. They have to connect to GM's network for the update and its hard telling what the download rate will be. They didn't do the module update. So far I think the reception is better. I'm picking up stations that I've not been able to pick up before. I'll judge it for a week and see how it is. I did get a nice loaner truck for the night. Fully loaded 2015 GMC Sierra CC/SB 4x4. The radio in it came in strong.
  7. I dropped the truck off this morning. While I was waiting for the courtesy shuttle to come back, the service writer came to me to tell me there is yet another recall for my truck. It was the airbag connector recall. I wasn't too surprised to hear of another recall. Its a company truck so I cannot complain too much about it but I'm disappointed with the GM quality. I've always had GM trucks so I was happy to have a GM work truck. It was between a GM or Dodge for work truck choices. Dodge didn't have the 1/2 ton diesel out yet so we went with the GM.
  8. I went to one GMC dealership around Indianapolis and they hadn't heard anything about people having reception issues. I think since they are so close to a major city, the reception isn't so bad so nobody complains about it. This dealership is close to home but not work so I didn't make an appointment. I went to the dealership in Kokomo today to make an appointment. The service writer knew exactly what I was talking about when I showed up. Since Kokomo is a smaller city and one hour from Indy, I think they've gotten plenty of complaints. I asked if they'd do both the module & programming. He said they just do the programming. If that doesn't do it, then they'd try the module. He said they had a way to "measure" the radio reception. I'm not sure about that. If they don't replace the module, I'll just take it back next week and tell them it still isn't good. My truck is a 09/13 build so it should need the new module.
