  1. Thank you sir. I use the M range of gears, I was just wondering about the little 1 off by itself.
  2. Now that makes sense, in a hurry downshift scenario, step saver. Or you need to slow fast without attention of brake lights such as slipping through Barney Fife's speed trap. (I don't speed anymore)
  3. Whew that sounds violent, lol. Too scared to try that. Afraid it will go into first at let's just say 60 mph and cause the dmax to rev to 100,000 rpm, not good.
  4. Just a mysterious little 1 that has no use.
  5. Side note: if that is the case the 1 is useless (as you said). Was hoping it was "granny low" of long ago.
  6. And as stated in the original post I found the manual a wealth of knowledge, just doesn't explain the 1.
  7. Thank you Mr Ryan for the reply. I did re-read my manual at your reference point. Still doesn't mention the 1. Maybe I missed it again.
  8. New to the Duramax/Allison, but long time gm driver. My ? is: What is the 1 just past the M which I know is the manual top gear limiter, and is it different than M1? I did do a search here and the internet but didn't have any luck finding anything. Also not in my manuals, or either I missed it. Thanks for any help.
  9. Seems like bad gas to me, combined with your theft deterrent tripped somehow. (Thats a long shot though.) Try putting in some known "good" gas and starting with your backup key. Had a friend that his silverado would run sniffing the start fluid but not on its own. It wound up being theft deterrent tripped (so he says, but I can't prove or verify that though.) This would be cheapest thing to try at least.
  10. Dbn93, somewhere on here is a way to bypass the chip key portion of the antitheft, using a resistor. Maybe you could bypass it, crank the truck to get everything to "reset" with engine running. Then unbypass it to reprogram it. If this is bad advice i apologize, its just what i would do if it were mine.(Try that is) Some folks dont want to even cut a wire on their truck, but i am not one of those, lol. Good luck with your ride though!
