  1. I am in the process of a buy back with gm now and maybe some of you that have already completed this can give some information. Just started this i am told they do my invoice to new truck invoice, then told me .30 cents per mile ihave 15000 on it so that's over 4000 $ don't think i should be paying anything out of pocket its there problem. So if you guy that have been though this cam pm me or just post if you all paid for miles and any other hidden things that I might in counter during this process would be appreciated.
  2. I haven't posted in a while but have been following posts I have 2014 crew slt had the dreaded vibration but has been corrected. After reading I agree there might be different problems with theses truck, but I thought I would explain how mine was corrected. We started with the balancing of the tires though the dealership with no luck. Got gm involved had gm engineer come to dealership with a vibration analyzer changed tires from tucks on the lot look at drive shaft etc...spent six hours on it came to the conclusion that the ring and pinion lash was out of spec. Gm engineer told me that they are going to put a complete rear end in my truck as the company American axal corp had trouble keeping up with production of these trucks. Had rear end installed all of the lower speed vibration was gone but still had some vibration at the higher speeds. I them took my truck to a tire shop to have the tires rebalanced with road force machine. Gm engineer told me that the spec.is 18 but trucks ride better with 14 or below I found my left front tire had a reading of 22 we did what is called a quick match where you break down tire and turn tire on rim to where machine tells you, then balance again came down to a 19 which is still out of spec. My other three tires where a 2,4,9. So the tire shop got three more good year's two where high road force # in the 20s the third one was a 7. So we put the low numbers (2-4) on the front and the (7-9 ) in the rear. The high speed vibration was gone. The following week end went on a three hour trip with no problems my truck had about 1200 miles on it when all this was done truck has almost 5000 with no vibration. Spent alot of my own time trying to straighten out problem, my dealership went to gm to compensate me for my time gm cut me a check for two truck payments. Hope this post can help point some of you towards a solution to your vibration issues as I know it just consumes you every time you get in your 50,0000 $ truck!!!! Good luck
  3. Guys I have not responded in a while but hear is what's been going on with my truck .I had my dealers gm rep come out went for a ride me him and sales manger. Rep said truck has a vibration ni doubt. He then had gm engineer come to dealership with a vibration analyzer spent six hours on it did close to sixty miles with two different sets of tires still has vibration .the end result was that the ring and pinion lash was out of spec.(made by American axal corp.) Order me a complete rear end .rotors brake calp.the whole thing plug and play.had rear end installed all low speed vibration was gone but still had some vibration at the higher speeds that we all have but character's of vibration had changed. Went back to dealership told them I want to have my tire road forced balance at a location of my choice on gm dime. At first gm said no that the enginer said it was all set.told then it was not all set they could buy my truck back and resell if it was all good.gm said there not buying it back I told them I would be pursuing the lemon law in my state (MA) and that my lawyer would be contacting them, also told gm rep I was call a relative that works for the today show in NY.two day later the dealership call and said gm will pay to have tire balance and allinement to check the thrust angle with the new rear end installed. Gm engineer told me the spec.is no higher than 18lbs but like them below 14lbs.my road foce readings where rr4lbs lr 9lbs rf 2lbs lr 22lbs that tire is no good tried to do a quick match only got it down to 19lbs .Note left front closes to driver and steering wheel.Went through three more tires before I got a number of 4lbs these are good year 20".so highest road force# is 9lbs. Drove truck and no more vibration low speed high speeds. Brought back to my dealership and took thw boy for a ride they can't believe how much smoother the truxk rides. We then took the same truck as mineoff the lot with 16 miles on it and I watched the head rest shake the back seat the steering wheel shake and vibration though out the whole truck. This past weekend me son had hockey tournament 3and a half hour ride truck was smooth as glass 50 60 70 80 90 miles hour. So that's my story hpoe it is helpful and good luck to all. Ps some one posted that it was not there problem anymore it was gms they put them in a new truck that he was driving for a couple day to see that it had no vibration before they signed the paper work. Did you trade out or did gm buy it back?
  4. Are you trading your gmc in at dodge dealership or does the dealership you bought gmc sell both? If not are you not going to tell them what's been going on with the gmc , history my be on carfax.
  5. I think that both gears have issues with vibration, was told more with the 308 then the 342. I would like to see if people are out there that have had no vibration with there new 2014 chevy or gmc or any other problems talked about on this blog. But that probably won't happen because there out enjoying there new trucks not frustrated like all of us. I read your post gdadlow about bluetooth dropping calls and xm stop working have you ever heard a snapping sound in dash ? Almost sounds like a small stone hitting the windshield.
  6. I have been reading all the posts and have found all the info very helpful as I have a 2014 Sierra with the same vibration that most of you have. I have 2000 miles on the truck now got it with 26 miles . Started feeling this with around 580 miles have brought to dealer several times. They have balanced the tires, they have sent out to have tires road forced balanced both did not correct the vibration. They said might be bad tires or rim( good year 20" and polished Crome rims) they said let's try a different set. I said lets get gm involved . On 1/31/14 I meet and went for a ride with gm service rep and sales manger from dealership ,both agreed that my truck has a vibration . With my truck I can feel vibration at 5- 90 mph. 5-30 not that bad but there,35-55 bad on seats front pass, steering wheel and rear seats 65-80 more in steering wheel but still though out truck. Gm rep had a gm engineer come with a vibration analyzer on 2/10/14 to my dealership . Hooked up this computer with a bunch of sensors that gage the vibration. Worked on truck for six hour , checked balance of driveshaft that was good put two different sets of tires on vibration still there with both sets of tires ( one GY one Bridgestone ) stop at dealership after work for update and was able to talk with engineer who told me that it's my rear end that American axle manufactured said lots of problems with trucks with 308 gears.that gm will not be putting 308 in the fifteens only 342 . So he ordered a new one that has been spec out by gm. The dealership received a complete rear end caliper and rotors that they will be installing tommorrow with the gm engineer coming to make sure all is correct on Friday So that's where I stand as of tonight. I will post the outcome as soon as possible. I think gm needs to get involved sooner than later they know these problem are out there don't let your dealership throw parts and tires at your 45,000- 50,000 $ truck . Told gm that if this vibration is still there they can buy the truck back for FULL selling price or will pursue the lemon law. Good luck to all have these issues and thank you all for your input.
