  1. Hill Descent Control is a separate switch on the center stack. Z71 only, at least for the 2014. I've used mine several times, works great for the most part. Does anyone know if there is a distance it's supposed be used for? Mine turned itself off on a steep hill.
  2. I spend a fair amount of time on rough and rocky roads, sometimes with heavy loads. 4 ply tires are nearly worthless on a dirt road. 6 ply aren't bad, 8 ply are preferable but hard to find. 10 ply are usually on 3/4 ton trucks but work great on 1/2 tons also. I hate changing flat tires.
  3. Thanks for the help everyone! Can't wait to see how my truck comes out. Also putting on 10 ply, 275/75/18 tires at the same time. The tires come with free alignment and they will put on the bilstein ' s for me for $60. If supply the shocks. Seems like a good deal.
  4. Is the top setting on Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks roughly level? I'm planning on getting a pair for the front of my 14 silverado, but I want to keep a little rake in the rear to avoid having my nose in the air with a heavy load. What setting are you guys running your 5100's on? And is changing the setting difficult after installation?
  5. I've never had running boards before, but my wife is 9 months pregnant and I'm thinking about getting a set so its easier for her (and the kid eventually) to climb in. My apologies if this was covered somewhere, but can someone break down the differences in materials? I would worry that aluminum would not hold up, the black running boards might scratch or chip... Am I off base? Any input or help would be appreciated.
  6. I've been considering getting a level kit for a little more clearance on dirt roads. Do most people that drive on rough roads use the Biltsteins? How much of a difference is there in cost?
  7. Has anyone left the cabin filter out of a truck that originally had one? I didn't even know what a cabin filter was until my '02 was clogged with dust. My '07 didn't have one at all and seemed to work fine. Not sure I would bother replacing the one on my '14 unless there is a real reason. 8. Thanks for the input everyone. One more question though: Is there are situation you would use Stabilitrac but not Traction Control? or Vice Versa?
  9. I know I can turn Traction Control and Stabilitrac off, but I haven't figured out when or why I would want them on or off. Or what Traction Control and Stabilitrac really do. Does anyone have a basic explanation? I appreciate your help in advance.
  10. Mine leaked from the back window also. The dealer fixed it with no problems, until I had a cell phone antenna wire run under the carpet. The pad was still soaked weeks later. Dealer had to pull all the carpets out for a few days.
  11. Please forgive my lack of knowledge, I know little about electrical besides mixing it with water is bad. I'm trying to figure out what I can use the 110 volt outlet for without blowing fuses. Maybe a charger for a 18 volt ryobi battery? Or a blender for margaritas? Any ideas?
