  1. 1. CEL is now off because I reset the system by disconnecting the battery for 15 minuets. But problem could still exist. I don’t want a $400 plus bill for the dealer to replace the sensor which will get me about 1/2 mile per/g with a little more efficient burn. 2. would be nice to over-ride the issue;but how do you decide the issue? Thus the NAPA code reader. Will it work with the CEL off?? 3.I have read the manual at least 3 times. I have also done internet search’s. Yes cas cap is on as it doesn’t have one, maybe something to do with flapper. Maybe wire to hood latch, and maybe other issue. Going to to NAPA. Hoping they can identify the problem.
  2. Hi, my remote start would not work, check engine light on. I disconnected battery cable, let it sit a while, re-connected battery cable. Started car, no engine light. Put new battery in remote. Remote start does not work. Check engine light does not come on. Any idea why remote start will not work? Would like some ideas before I go to a dealer. Possibly some kind of emissions sensor or a fuse? Can NAPA check the code if there is not a check engine light on? Thanks
  3. Hi thanks to all for help on 3rd brake light wiring to appropriate connector. Now how do I wire the Topper dome light to the factory Installed LED pickup bed lighting. This is a 2017 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, 4W drive, LTZ Z71. Thanks in advance.
  4. well I pull the light housing today. not sure where the X400 connector is. I thought it would be the c connector to the bulb in the light housing. i am not sure that is the connector as I don't see a dummy spot. There are 4 wires there. one of those spots doesn't seem to have any power. my guess is that would be the ground, is that so? So is there one wire that is dedicated to the brake light only? I can't seem to determine which one to use so the brake light doesn't blink. I will take some photos and post. I think the black is the ground. Don't know what the red, green, and brown wire do. Or where the x400 connector is located if this is not it.
  5. Thanks this is really helpful. I call the service department and they indicated they had nothing; but I could take the car in @ accessories rate $'s and they could wire it. And I have bought my last 5 trucks and 2 cars from them. I will be mentioning that to my salesman who is the owners son.
  6. Well getting to be more of a pain. Just got off the phone with the service department. And no help as to the color code. They did offer me an opportunity to bring in the truck and they wood wire it at the accessories rate plus parts. I mentioned that I had some wiring experience and would tackle the job myself.
  7. Well nothing I been able to find on the internet seems to match my rear tail light harnesses. I have a 2017 silverado crew cab LTZ with the factory pick up bed lighting. I am trying to hook up the 3rd tail light and dome light of the topper I recently bought. My tail light assembly only has two bulbs, one for the back up light and one for everything else. Back up branches of the light harness and is easy to twist to remove and replace the bulb. The other one is a bear. There is a RED tab that I think has to be pulled out. Right? And then how does the rest of it come out? Definitely no twist and turn. This connector has a bunch of wires for everything else. I don't know which wires to use to hook up the back-up light. I need an explanation for each color wire. Every other housing I look at on the internet is different. There is also a separate harness with two wires that go the the bed lighting. I think I can just splice the dome light into these two wires; but don't know which is hot and which is ground.
  8. Got tired of the fold-a-cover and when back to a topper cap on my 2017 silverado crew caab. Bought used, I have lights in my box, so just need to hook up the brake light in the topper. So I don't want to use a 4 pronged harness. Unless there is a close spot where I can get power for the topper light switch. Is there any such animal as I don't want to take t he time to run a wire to the battery for that. So what the best way to hook up the brake light? Just cut the plug off from the part of the harness in the topper? Then how do I connect the two wire to something back where the wires are for the rear tail lights?
  9. Looking for a photo of the rear fit of a 2013 topper on a 2017 short crew cab
  10. They come std in 2019 1500 crew cab, I would like. To add one to my 2017 truck.
  11. I need a good one to be able to use apple car play and other features. MN has passed a law, no phones in your hands. 2017 Silverado LTZ and the cheasey China magnet I am using is a pain.
  12. Well last night I went to remote start engine after a wrestling meet, 40 degrees outside, It did not work, I put the key in and it started; but ran poorly, low power light came on in instrument panel, car was barely running, Check engine light was on. Also the light for spinning tires came on. Well I made it home, tansmission shift points seemed changed, cruise did not work, low power all the way home. Check engine light stayed on as well as the squigle tire light. When home I turn car off and waited 5 minuets. Car started with key, Check engine light was on all, other lights normal, all else seemed normal, car ran fine, transmission shifted OK, cruise worked. This morning went to start car with remote, it did not work, locked car seemed to operator normal, push remote start on fob and lights can on and stayed on with no start of car engaged. Put key in ignition and car started. Ran as normal with Check Engine light on. About 20,000 miles. I was planning to make a 2000 mile trip starting at 6 am tomorrow morning. Do I have to take it a dealer first. I would have no problem driving my 1966 chevelle as I know how to fix any problems with that engine; but this 2017 silverado 5.3 is a puzzle to me. Please help if you can.
  13. Rocks hit the front of the boards and bounce up and chip the bottom of the doors. You have to do something like this guy did.
  14. factory boards are c....., pit and rust. stainless is the only way to go. and you have to protect the bottom of the door from rock chips like above.
